Hey I’m new here and was looking for some advice on which Flowmaster muffler to put on my 2006 V8 Tundra. I’ve seen multiple people running 40’s and i am really liking the sound they make but I’m just confused as to what series 40 I should get. I’m looking for more of an aggressive signature deep Flowmaster sound that you can hear coming down the road but isn’t obnoxiously loud. Any recommendations for Flowmaster series or any other brands to consider would be great. Thank you!

I ran a Flowmaster Super 44 recently. I’m happy with it. It’s loud and deep. Can be heard a few houses away but not much drone and doesn’t piss off the fam/neighbors. I didn’t want to spend more than a few hundred so this was perfect for me. $170 all in. I have a video on my build tread of before and after as well there is a sticky of aftermarket exhausts that helps a lot.

I had a 40 and couldn't stand the drone. Then again mine was dumped behind the cab, maybe it would drone less if my pipe exited the truck completely.

I'm running a Spintech Prostreet with stock piping and couldn't be happier. Quiet enough inside but loud enough outside that people hear me coming through.

Just looked at your thread and it sounded awesome! I’ve narrowed it down to the super 40 and super 44 but don’t know the difference between the two. Also other than the muffler were there any other cost besides installation?

How much does it typically cost to have a muffler shop weld in a new one? $50-100?

On the low end of that if they don't need to add much pipe to make up the difference in length. When I had my resonator removed it was just cutting out the section and replacing it with pipe, I think that was $60.

Looking back I would probably leave the resonator there, but its okay.

My exhaust I have right now was all free labor at my buddys shop, I didnt even pay for the muffler.

Back on tundra solutions, there was a dude who dyno tested a few exhaust setups on the gen 1, spintech with stock pipes had the best gains

Now wait, gains with a muffler? Measurable?

His username was v8toilet. He posted dyno results YEARs ago. Remember 5rwhp for example is real. And measurable, but impossible to feel in daily driving most likely

As soon as I saw your earlier post I was gonna say V8toilet. He was measuring quarter-mile times as well as he upgraded his truck.

Can’t decide between the super 40 and super 44 series. I don’t know which is louder or which to choose. Any help?

Do yourself a favor... go with a BAMuffker from @dirtydeeds. Proven gains and sound to match exactly what you’re looking for. Keith is on the forum and can hook it up right

I have Borla XR1 on my Lexus (3uz, not 2uz) with headers, and an X pipe. Not sure if it’s too “exotic” sounding for you. If not for these I’d probably go with Spintech.

Whichever muffler you choose please go with the quietest muffler you can find. Nobody cares about your muffler sounding cool and loud or wants to hear it except you.

50 series Flowmaster (Delta Flow? American Thunder?) has the deeper sound, without all of the annoyingly loud trumpeting exhaust sounds. Also has very little drone at cruising speed. Classic V8 sound. Had an old guy ask me if I had a 350 small block in the truck years ago. Still trying to decide if that was a compliment....

If you like the Flowmaster sound go with a Thrush which is under the Flowmaster company. I bought mine from Advanced Auto for less than $35! I bought the 2.5” single in dual out. I had the muffler shop remove the resonator and added chrome tips out the back. Hell, the double walled 18” tips were more than the muffler! After break in they sound just like the 40 series.
