Getting ready to upgrade the head unit in my 2020, and I will be running amps as well. I'm assuming the door speakers are 6x9 in the front and 6.5 in the rear. Anyone try the JBL's from Best Buy? I am looking at JBl, Pioneer, or Kicker. If none of those, I may order Infinity.

Most people switch the 6x9 fronts to 6.5” components for better sound quality and improved staging. I’m running JL Audio C1 650 components front and rear with a JL amp and have been very happy with the sound. You’ve been here long enough I’m sure you know who to email for all things Tundra audio.

    Yep...lol. According to Crutchfield, 6x9 doesn't even fit a 2020.

True. I think most aftermarket 6x9s are way too deep to fit. I’d call/email James and tell him your budget and see what he thinks gives you the best value based on what you’re looking for. My understanding is he works on Tundra systems nearly all day every day. Saw a post on here recently someone drove to him for a audio install since he was only 4 hours away... guy definitely has a reputation of knowing his stuff.

I guess it's depends on your budget?

Not sure about a 2020 door panels, but on my 07 I used a heat gun, and a basket ball, and made the room I needed, then made spacers to fit my CDT es6 s. If you take it slow, you could probably make room for subs in your doors.

Have you looked at https://www.cdtaudio.com/? The ve been around for quite a while. They even have 2 ohm components though I m running 4 ohm mids in all the doors atm. Best part is they are 50% off until Dec 2.

Any idea on how the cl-61 performs?

Not really, but the specs look good. I have an ES06 in each door. At 50% off I would go after ES series, or these Braxials. I ve wanted a set of them for so long, but there was no way I would pay $700.00 a set. Now they are half price. I would get them, but I m selling my Tundra. The cl61 has good sensitivity but freq range of 50 HZ to 20,000 HZ, so you would get a lot of voice, and fair lows. You almost don t need a tweeter with those mids. Compaired with the ES06 which will get down to 10 HZ. What I did was to choose speakers that overlapped a small amount so I would get the whole freq range, then set those ranges in my Kenwood headunit. That way I can crank it and not worry about blowing out speaker.

Did you have to use an adapter ring on top of your speaker mount to clear the ES06 from the glass?

Yes I did. I did a few things to make it work. You need to either measure distance magnet will be in hole and calculate ring thickness that way, or mount the speaker, and test: Apply something like clay, or silly putty on the magnet area you think the window will touch. Mount it, and lower the window (very slowly) until it makes impression in the clay. Then you know the thickness of ring you need. I used a few buckets, and set the door panel on them. I used a heat gun to heat up the inside of the speaker grill area of the door panel, and using a basketball I pressed down. It took a while cause you have to take it slow. I was able to make a big enough impression to fit the ring and have the speaker clear the window. Just know that the ES06 has a small freq range; think it s 10hz to 4000hz. Music would sound odd if that s all you used. This site explains what I m talking about

Go here and plug in your vehicle. Using a list of common brands it will tell you what fits your rig.

I miss understood your post. CDT site assumes you know what you want. Crutchfield is taylored to those who want, as you say; "drop it in and go".

    No problem.
I looked on Crutchfield and it look like the depth is 2.666.. so im looking again on cdt to see if the measurement match or come close to it. Crutchfield list a lot of 5 1/4". If i can spend similar cost why not find something "better" than what Crutchfield offer, right?
