I apologize if this topic was covered already, but I couldn't find any threads for it..

Thoughts on the best bed liners for my Crewmax. There is currently nothing at all on mine and I was debating between a spray on or a drop in. The previous owner leased it and either:
A- Didnt clean his bed before he dropped a liner in and removed it when trading it back in or
B- Didn't give a shit what he loaded back there because it's pretty scratched up.

Is it possible to have it both sprayed for protection and have a drop in put on? Whats my best move here? I'm not going to be doing any heavy duty hauling or transports with it, just your normal wood/DIY shit from Home Depot

IMO, I'd never do a plastic bedliner. The bed will rust in the long run. For the DIYers, the Raptor liner kits are affordable. I've used Duplicolor bedliner in a rattle can for smaller projects and am happy with the results. Otherwise, it seems like most people prefer Line-X professionally installed.

Spray in bedliner is the only way to go. The above writers are correct it's just going to rust if you drop a piece of plastic in there

I have bulletliner. I wanted bullet liner because that’s what I read everyone has but their appointments were set out almost a month. I had my truck bed bulletlined the week after I called. I’m happy with it.

I like my Line X spray in and a couple of my buddies have been really happy with theirs. We don't have Bullet here and the dealer for the other brand we have here (can't remember which one it is now) works out of the Dodge dealership so no way was he touching my truck.

I've enjoyed my spray-in bedliner since, uh, I saw it on the truck before I bought the truck from the dealer. LOL

Pretty unanimous I think... I appreciate all of the responses, thanks everyone. Looks like everyone is pretty much satisfied with the Line-x. Anyone know the warranty on that by any chance?

I rolled in herculiner myself, then dropped in a bed liner. Rust protection with the roll in, ding protection from the liner, best of both in my book.

A lot of folks don't know but the main co-founder/chemist of Line X sold the company, waited out the do not compete clause, and started Bullet Liner.

A drop-in is fine if you use a water tight bed cover.

Should be lifetime. Many complain about Line-X vs. Herculiner vs. this or that. I've found that *who* does it is likely more important.

Several years back I had a guy in VA do it; he flat said "Lifetime warranty - if you throw a KNIFE at it and it gets cut, come back and we'll fix it." I later found out that they actually straightened out a dent I'd caused before spraying the bed. :) They did it right - sanded it down, cleaned the living @%@$ out of the bed first, removed the bed bolts before they sprayed it, etc. They did an excellent job.

A few years later it did get cut....brought it back, and boom, they fixed it just as they said. IMHO, just make sure you go to a shop that's been there a while with a good reputation and you should be fine.

I know what you're getting at and you may not believe it,, but I don't know anyone with any bed cover on any truck that has water issues. Not kidding.

And I spend ny entire day in either WV or KY. most of my friends and co-workers drive trucks.

Everything I've heard about tonneau covers is they all leak a little even after you've adjusted them to fit your bed as well as you can. Even my canopy lets in a little water when I power wash it.

    Too many, but not enough....
Spray in from the factory here. Good quality and its pretty dang tough so far. I am also using the toyota bed mat which makes the bed almost indestructible now.

    Armorthane spray in liner here.

Was there when I bought the truck.

I abuse it and have yet to damage it.

I like that I can still slide items in and out with ease. The material is not overly grippy.

I was a line-X guy for a while , if you can get factory is the best , I am not sure why Toyota did no adopt the same plastic inner bed like the Tacoma , love the plastic bed , no rust .
My Tundra has a factory spray in and its great , all my factory liners have never let me down .
I just picked up a Jeep Gladiator and for some reason was not ordered with a factory spray in . I bought a drop in and for over kill I put a thin rubber membrane to keep the plastic liner from moving and wearing the paint .
I just picked up a beater truck and it had Line - X applied less than 2 years ago , was done local to Philadelphia pa .
I read the Line-x warranty contract is specific to the original owner . The coating is coming off in sheets on the bed sides and peeling from the bottom also .
I sent the local shop that did the work and see if they want to do any thing about it .
I’m on just about every Toyota , Ford , GM , Nissan forums … I did not put any pressure them you would think they might want to take a look , if not they will get the appropriate feed back .422CABEF-C37A-4861-A1E3-7ACCA31C748C.jpg

    Pretty things
Devil is in the details as always. If the installer does not prep the bed properly, no spray in liner is going to last.

You can clearly see they did not key the surface (rough up the paint with sand paper), and may not have even cleaned the bed before application.

I would reach out to line-x corporate so they know this particular installer is doing a shit job. Forward the pictures as they really say it all. Maybe they will help out with a proper re-installation.

As a handyman, I use the bed of my truck for hauling heavy tools, construction supplies, large walls of removed tile, old bathtubs.. I've never even nicked the coating

Agree with COTundie with the dealer not prepping correctly. I had mine Line-X'ed shortly after buying the truck in late 2012. I had the premium version applied and it hasn't chipped or peeled, it has only faded a small amount and the truck lived outside for 5 years. I don't baby the liner either, some of the roughness of liner has worn off from sliding stuff in and out of the bed, but it is still solid. Actually thinking about having them do a ReNew on it to get the worn off texture back.

I sent them 2 emails one yesterday and one today , that coating was done 06/01/2020 .. Pretty sad application and its the premium Line-x .
If I don’t hear back from them in the next day or so I will do a phone follow up and go from there , pictures are worth a 1000 words and with social media … who want to see this on Line-X face book … LOL

    Not sure at this point.
Got mine Line-X at Line-X of Connecticut and it wasn't anything like that. Mine is definitely not peeling like that.
