    I was Commo and SIGINT, and when I was young I had a traveling bone. It also had a lot to do with the units I was in. I am seeing armor in your past, by the places you have been. Well that and the picture in your avatar.

    I only travel once a year now, for 2 to 3 months. If I didn't have to go anywhere I wouldn't. It pays the bills though!

    OP, you must have a cool job in the Army, special operations? Welp, I’ve been to Fort Carson, Wheeler Army Airfield, Fort Eustis, now Fort Irwin. I’ve been deployed 4 times, 3 to Iraq (when they were 12month rotations, one was 15months) once to Afghanistan.

    My dad, Went to basic at Ft. Polk and Flight School at Ft.Wolters and Ft. Rucker. I don't remember which order Wolters or Rucker.

    Wolters first, primary flight training, then to Rucker for the transition into Hueys and tactical flight training. Got so many pilots going through at the height of the Vietnam War that they had to split the Huey training between Rucker and Hunter. I came back from Nam to command a training flight at Hunter. Transferred to MI branch after about a year of instructing. MI needed pilots to fly their U-21s (Beech King Airs) back in Nam. Fly the DMZ area doing elint, jamming, meaconing. etc. By the time I went through the MI officer career course at Holabird, the crypto school at Devens, and finished the transition to fixed wing and U-21s, they were winding it down and assigned me to Campbell. Couldn't handle peacetime Army, so got out two years later.

    I went through basic at Polk, with the intent to go through the warrant officer program, which I assume is what your dad did. but took a test during basic to go to OCS, so that changed things a little. Went to Ord for advance infantry training then to the infantry officer candidate school at Benning, then to flight school after I got my commission.
