Yesterday it would rain and dry up only to repeat again.

It took me longer to complete cleaning and waxing but I ended up doing more detailing in hard to reach areas. Like wheel wells which was not planned.

It rained a few times but I was able to wash it and used Chemical Guys Butterwax. Very fast application and removal. I bought a gallon of the stuff and transferred it to a water bottle for ease of use.

Put the wax on the entire truck quickly on this nice cloudy day and as I finished removing the last wax on the last quarter panel it of course rained.

Today shouldn't rain so drinking coffee and with my better half I washed the truck (again) to remove possible water spots and dried it:

I was almost in the same boat as you. Planned on swingin by parts store for more wax and soap and completely forgot. Once I remembered later that day, the wind was blowing like crazy, dust was everywhere, and the clouds were rolling in. Today is supposed to be sunny so once I get off work, I'll be out front washing the ol beast.

That is a beautiful color on that truck by the way

    Thanks RowdyRon,
I like hearing people next to me while at lights and at gas stations say nice things about the Tundy.

    Thank you NMOKTundra,
    I can relate.
It can be tough to find a block of time to do even the basics like a quick wash. Sometimes I only manage vacuuming and then something urgent like work calls or it rains.

I always feel good when I can complete cleaning and it's a bonus waxing the Tundy. My version of Relaxing though.

    Thanks ColoradoTJ!
I have always taken care of my vehicles mechanically and absolutely love touching this truck. I bet it's not just me who likes the sensory feedback from hands on cleaning and waxing.

    You're correct about that!!!

Funny thing is, the Pro probably looks better now then on the showroom floor.

Well, being in New Mexico where its a constant dust storm it's hard to get window where you wont have spots all over your truck when you're done. I'd love if I could fit the truck in the garage.

In some ways it looks better,
When I first got the truck it still had the edge lines on the paint where there was apparently a film of sorts placed on the hood to protect when the truck was shipped.

I didn't mind receiving the truck like that because I clay. I also like using quality products, soft micro fiber towels and elbow grease to get my results.

Does the wind die down after sunset? I heard from a friend who moved to LA that after dark is when people come out and do social things. It's cooler then at least.

It would be a challenge to stay ahead of those elements when nature is against you. On the flip side I bet you get lots of thumbs up after you complete washing/detailing...at least until the dust settles.

Sometimes. The wind does whatever the hell it wants. Its usually calm in the morning, around 1 it picks up, dies down around 4, then at sunset (5-6) it goes crazy for about 30 minutes, then its on and off.

Looking good Jim! Getting the wheel wells clean, to me, really makes the truck pop!

I always do mine then follow up with some Aerospace 303.

Nice job; really makes the inferno color pop.

I do, however, prefer the "detail it once and for life" method..

..you'll never have to detail the truck again. :)

    Thanks Steve,

I swear by Aeospace 303 and recently bought a gallon as it is more economical that way.

    Thanks Spvrtan,

Me and my mall crawler is in awe of your back from the battle look of your Tundra!
It takes a strong man to take their Tundy where it was designed to go effortlessly! The equivalent of a Tundra passing through a rite of passage! The battle scars look cool though. Like tattoos for a truck!

It definitely says: where mere mortals fear to travel., lol

Now to get manufactures to hook you up with free samples of their colored waxes to try out.

LOL...me too. If I showed you my two racks of detailing stuff...wooooo. I use a lot of stuff by the gallon. I'm a sucker when family, friends and neighbors ask, "Hey Steve, can you....?"

I love doing it and when I Retire next year and leave N.J., I hope to start my own business doing detailing and correcting.

Btw, my truck is coated with CQuartz Finest coating. No waxing needed!

    Thanks Steve,
    your truck looks great too!

When you retire business sounds like a doable plan!
Locally there are many places that are popping up to wash and detail vehicles, none at the level you showed me in your PM and they seem always to be busy.

I love doing my own detailing too. Nice to find a kindred spirit!

I would like that and accept the challenge of detailing her.

Next time we see each other I'll bring along the Chemical Guys products along with 303 Aerospace protectant, water etc., to see what I can make of her. Should be fun! Game on!

I would much rather be doing something than sitting around. I think it would be great to have a truck meet where owners come together to share knowledge/ elbow grease, products and such.

If you ever come to Virginia Beach look me up.

Cleaning cars seems to be a chore which everyone loathe. The cleaning and waxing of hard to reach areas is time consuming too. Did you kow that the paint cleaning process has to be done in our cars lifetime atleast 2-3 times. Only recently did I realise. Make sure while you clean your car, that you are not in direct sunlight so that the cleaners don't get dried up. Be gentle while you clean. Some suggest Clay bar. Among the good habits in cleaning a car is keeping your dashboard clean. Damp microfibre cloth or dash brush would be enough. Keeping your windows spot-on is another challenge. I heard about this blue rain window cleaning method at https://www.clerawindows.com/blog/best-way-to-clean-windows/ which seems to be cost-effective considering the fact that cleaning is a continuing process.
Now, something to learn from dust. Take a look at these amazing art works on grubby cars (dirty car art) . Grime to art creativity (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ng-artwork-created-dirty-vehicle-windows.html)

Good to know and loved the artwork in the second link!

I am surprised we only have to clean our vehicles 2-3 times a year I would have thought more because of acid rain etc..

Good links you provided and that artwork drawn in dust is incredible!

You are absolutely right. We need more than 3 cleaning sessions . Among the artwork drawn in dust the "dog family dining" is my pick. Mind blowing art work. Thanks
