So I ordered my son new wheels and tires last friday from my local Big O store for his 2002 Chevy 1500 truck. He finally found the wheel he wanted that was in our budget and was really excited to have them installed today after school. They finished installing them right at closing and while we were getting in the truck my son took a close look and they ordered the wrong wheel. Was dark out so I didn't notice.

First picture is what he wanted and the second picture is what they installed. Should I just go with what they put on and tell my son that's the way life goes or have them order the right wheels?

The wheel he wanted was gloss black with milled spokes and the wheel installed is matte black.

Be careful with these wheels also, you can scratch them with a toothpick

Edit, See if he might like them after a week or so. If he doesn't like them make the store get the right ones. Kind of like the Matte myself.

I’d go back in the morning and calmly talk to the manager about the mistake. Give him a chance to make it right.
There’s several avenues he might take.
I always give people the opportunity to do the right thing. Then you may have choices.

Here is how I look at, what would you do, if it were your wheels on your truck? I've got a 15 yr old son myself. I bought him a mint condition 2000 Tacoma, he wanted wheels for it, so we looked and looked until he found what he wanted, so I ordered them. Now, if they had shipped something close but different, I make them get me what he wanted. Just my worthless .02.

I like option 2 better, but it’s not my truck. Things happen. If he ordered the first one, then just speak to them. I’m sure they’ll make it right

My son turns 15 in Feb.

I like the matte myself. We'll see how they look in the daylight. He might love them.

This is a teaching opportunity about self advocating. He didn't get what he ordered, and thats the way life goes some times. To @gosolo 's point, its how you recover from those times. Although they may be better and he may like them more, don't miss the opportunity to let him practice the art of negotiation.

Prepare him for the conversation, ask him what he would like the outcome to be and take him in to talk to the manger.

In the mean time OP, lets see some pics of the wheels on his truck!! I know you said it's a chevy, but everyone appreciates a good looking truck! I would look at them in the daylight and see how they look. If yall don't like them and prefer the milled, I would go back to the store and let them know.

I’d get what was ordered. First, because that’s what he wanted, and they should honor that.

Second, those chrome accents on the spokes are a bitch to keep clean and looking nice. My wife’s truck has those, and the chrome parts don’t look all that great after four years. Just a pain to wipe down.

Quick picture before I headed to work last night. I'll take a few more when I wake up this afternoon.

Getting the front windows tinted for Christmas and a sound system.

I too think they look good. The glossy ones may "pop" a little too much for the truck's color. I would think the matte would be easier to care for or would look better longer than the others.

Is that an old wheel taken off in the bed?

Yes. Going to throw them on facebook marketplace or craigslist for maybe 100-150 for all 4.

That's a nice looking truck, and I think he will like those. The accents on the lip still help tie with the bumper as well. The windows tinted and sound system, he will be doing well!

My son ended up really liking the matte finish wheels and has decided to keep them. I did call Big O and they were willing to order the wheels he originally wanted. I wonder if there is a difference in price between the two wheels though. I hope the matte weren't cheaper than the gloss black.
