I am picking up new to me 2020 tundra. I regret selling my last one. Can’t wait to get back in one. Best truck I have owned. Lift tires, wheels, bumper already purchased. Going to regear. Did my last 2 trucks and worth every penny…

you all recommend a tuner to help shift points with gears and 35’s? Or not needed?

love all the knowledge on here

Not sure if any of the tuners support 2020s yet. If they did, then HP Tuners. To get the most benefit from your regear, you should get the ECU programmed for 5.29.

Unless there's something specific you want, I wouldn't get any tuner. 5.29s and 35s balance each other out so the truck should be totally happy and stock shift points should be pretty accurate. Most tuner's you're not going to get much out of them without boost, unless your intention is to remove throttle limits and stuff like that.

I think what's more up your alley is a Pedal Commander or a Bullydog. Those are a much more friendly plug and play setup, and lots of people like those. They're not as in depth at changing stuff, but will adjust the throttle response and (arguably) power in the case of the Bullydog. If you don't like how the trucks response is after getting the regear and 35s, then I'd look at those. But starting out just see how it feels with the gears. There's a few threads reviewing those, and their much cheaper and less intensive to sort through than HP Tuners or OV Tune.

19-21 is now supported with Hp Tuner. Here’s their announcement with my truck in the shot. I tuned mine this week and it drives away better. Dyno results forthcoming when I can find time on an available dyno.

oh and yes, it will account for 5.29 gearing, tire size and removal of the speed governor.
