Just bought my first Tundra! 2008 SR5 CrewMax. Already have a tunneau cover for the bed, but I would like to do a couple things, and not sure where to start. Would like a "quick win" so I am thinking either a new Cold Air Intake, mod the exhaust, or new headlights. Let me know which I should do first and what to buy. Don't have a bottomless wallet either. ;)

Magnuson Supercharger, TRD Goodies (Pro Suspension, Pro Grille, Exhaust, CAI, Rear Sway Bar, Oil Cap). Weather Tech Floormats, BakFlip MX4, Spray In Bedliner, AMP Research Bed Extender and Bed Step, Side Steps, B&W Adjustable Drop Hitch, AJT Designs Battery Hold Down, SDHQ Sliders.
You'll get more bang for your buck with the exhaust over the Cold Air Intake (I did TRD for both). A lot of people here are either running the TRD Dual Exhaust or an exhaust from Keith at Dirty Deeds. I haven't done my headlights yet, but that's on my list as well.....there are some nice XB headlights coming out with a group buy on here, but they are pricey at $980 I believe. A quick search will pull up that thread.

    Welcome from AZ.

    Trying not to mod it
    Welcome to the forum.

I get the desire for the quick win kind of mod, but it could be helpful to look at what your end goals are, if you even know at this point. For example, if you know you plan on lifting, or putting in bigger tires, an easy win first mod that will help in that direction but not break the bank would be an upgraded skid plate. The stock skid almost always has to be chopped or bent to prevent rubbing on bigger tires. As an added bonus you'll get better protection.

If you are really only looking at the items you listed, then my personal recommendation would be to upgrade the headlights for better visibility. Whatever you choose, best of luck.

i agree with azurenightmare. what are your final goals? i was planning on a working rig, so for me, adding air bags and a good brake controller was early on. and sliders after a mild "off road" experience ;)

DO NOT waste your money on a cold air intake. The factory intake is a cold air intake. You can do the SABM along with a drop-in filter such as a K&N or AFE. The Pedal Commander is a nice thing to have as well. :taco:

just bought some interior LED bulbs, and really end goal would be a mild lift/level with a nice engine sound at idle and not too much at highway speeds.

Your first mod should be a 2020. If finances forbid that, then I guess do what you like. I like loud, so Dirty Deeds 8 inch exhaust!!!

It changes the programming to make your accelerator more sensitive or less sensitive depending on the setting of the module. Most people here add them to get increased throttle response.

How many mile are on the suspension? When I bought my truck with a lot of miles and then upgraded the suspension to bilstein 6112 front and 5160 rears, it was an amazing improvement. I also balanced my tires and got an alignment. Next I added the TRD rear sway bar.

I considered it a major quick win. A dramatic improvement.

Again, depends on your goals. Mine was to pay as little as possible for a trustworthy truck and then upgrade the specific things I care about.

If you live in a state that you can just cut the muffler out do that first. That's all I did to my exhaust on my 08. I recommend an aftermarket head unit if you dont have one already it will wake up your Speakers . Other then that maybe window tint and some nice floor mats. maybe some seat covers. As for the cheaper stuff. Other then that I agree 100% with @Rex Kramer get a tune.

I'm trying to do what is most important while just looking at other suff. White makes the truck better and reliable and what needs to replaced first all the other stuff can wait I'm was agv15.1 per gallon it went up to 16 then dropped back I can't seem to figure why.

I got ceramic tint Texas legal for &250 I want to paint it black but to match the tint I also bought bilsteen 5100 adjustable for now. I bought 2 new 80bit g keys fob with the key in it and I would like to get the remote start but everyday it sucks the glass breaker alarm and I need a fog light switch relay and probably a new actuator. Also anyone know how to change the batteries in the tire pressure sensor my light is just on all the time but the tires are fine

Change all the fluids, nearly 200K they've got to be dirty.

For me, my first major mod was HID retrofits. But I am a light-o-file and hate halogens. Then added a 12.2" Android head unit with back up cam, step bar lights (easy), foglights, front cam, all weather mats, grill insert, and then LED interior/exterior lights. Sylvania Zevo's work great in our 2nd Gen brake lights and are super bright.
