What length corssbars are you all putting on your shells? Thinking about adding a Rhino Rack set-up and debating between 59" or 65" crossbars..

My recommendation is to get rails that are as wide as the vehicle, which is 79 inched as to avoid hitting the side of the truck when loading from the side, If this is to wide for you, get ones at least as wide as the top of the cap they are mounted on, for the same reason.

I just put 66" yakima bars on a snugtop on a '17. The beam on those is about the same as the truck itself. They stick out ~3" from the top of the shell, which tapers a bit from the width of the bed.

I have Thule 65" load bars on my Tundra cap and they fit perfect. I have 58" load bars on my Tacoma but they looked too small for the Tundra so I bought some new 65s. I would NOT go any bigger than 65s. IMO 79" would be too big and hang over the side too much.

Check out this link. You can actually see the Tacoma in the background.

I’ve got 60” bars on my Yakima bed rails. Not sure if you can see it but it is about 2” on each side from the end of the bed.

I don't know why mine is so much less, but the rails on my cap are only like 46" apart. Not a great picture, but that's what it looks like. image2.jpg
