Also don’t be afraid to give it some throttle every now and then , all the 5.7’s seem to like that .

Oh, I didn't realize you were on mobile. IDK how on that either.

Still had to give you a hard time, though!

So, why are you so secretive about your interior? Are there chopped up body parts and blood stains you don't want us to see? o_O

If anyone is interested in the options on my truck, since I've given @LarryDangerfield the 3rd degree on his features, here's my window sticker.

    upload_2026-4-6_0-43-20.png

Interesting that it says there is a steel hood, as I though all manufacturers had moved to aluminum.

Not sure what they mean by "Configurable" drive modes. I can select different modes, but I haven't found a way to configure anything about them.

I will say the rear under seat storage compartment is hilariously overpriced. It's two little carpeted boards with a hinge that can kind of roll forward to provide a little more room, or you can have them rolled/folded back to have more flat floor area. It's handy, I guess, but doesn't have any kind of divider, no protection for the carpet floor, and the materials and concept are so simple that it should be a $50 option. Now, the bins in the floor to help make up for this, but you can get those without the flippy foldy bit.

Video should start with the in floor bins and immediately follow with the under seat folding storage that I have. After that they show the built in style that has the pop out platform, but I've only seen that on the HD Rams of this model year. All the 1500s had flat floors.

I'll bet it doesn't flap and wave like a flag in the slightest breeze though.

Would you happen to know what the standard axle ratio is with the Hemi?

It hasn't seemed to have any fluttering or deformation in winds, yet.

So far as I know the Hemi option only comes in the 3.92 ratio. Though, this may not be the rule; I just could not find any Hemi trucks that did not have the 3.92s in them.

The standard ratio for the 1500 is the 3.21, see the Standard Equipment section on that window sticker, and I'm not sure if that is only on the V6 or if the I6 can also be optioned with that. There is another ratio for the truck, but I never paid much attention to it.

I forgot about the Tundra hood flapping around. I was terrified first time it started happening and had to pull over to make sure it was down. Never really got used to that....

Yeah, you just use the gear limiter and set it to the highest gear, or use tow haul and it turns off the MDS. I don't mind the MDS though.

As Adam said you just use the gear limiter on the steering wheel .
Press the (-) you’ll see a 1 on the dash , then press the (+) until the number on the dash says 8 . The only thing with it is you have to do it every time you put it in drive .

So @GODZILLA, what's your definition of extended idling when it comes to preventing Hemi tick, anyway?

For example, would 10 minutes to sweep the snow off be too long?

Extended idling is more in line with like work trucks, ambulances, or police cruiser type use. Idling for looong periods.

At low idle the oil pressure drops pretty low, and that is believed to cause the oiling issues on the rollers, cams, and lifters. When it's cold out and you first start the truck it's going to be at a higher idle and should keep pressure/volume up enough to not be an issue.

That said, I don't plan on remote starting and idling 10 minutes every day or anything. I am shooting for as little idle time as possible, even in cold situations where it's less likely to be an issue.

There's a mechanic on yootoob who advises against shutting off MDS every time you drive, though. He says it was designed to have that oiling done when MDS is active, and by turning it off you are actually not letting oil go everywhere it needs to in the engine. He recommends that if you don't want to use MDS you are best served to replaced the MDS components with non MDS ones.

We all have to make our own decisions on that one.

Oh, @Cpl_Punishment you asked a while back if I could just lock the Ram using the door button when I got out. Tested and confirmed that this is viable.

I think I would only do that when I am alone in the truck, because every time I have passengers I am out and have closed my door before everyone else. Waiting for the lollygaggers to close their doors while standing there with mine open just to lock it would be an irritant.

I plan to continue to pull out the FOB after I've exited the truck.

Dropped the Ram off for it's first oil change this morning. 11XX miles on it.

Figure it can't hurt to get the break in oil out early. Likely do the next one at 5K miles.
