Last weekend I replaced the radiator, hoses, thermostat and housing, serpentine belt, reattached an O2 sensor after the nuts rusted off, and changed the fuel and air filters. I was pleasantly surprised at how simple it all was. Then...

On Sunday I heard a clunking, and realized the back fuel tank strap had broken (rusted) and was getting smacked around by the driveshaft. So I drove for a week with a ratchet-strap holding it up until the new straps arrived...

Where is the location where I can relieve the fuel pressure so I can take off the filter?

When I changed the fuel filter out on my 2000 I just popped the lines off. Didn't have to bleed pressure off. It did leak the whole time so be prepared!

yep bank account is running low from it..
Let it sit over night if you don't want to get sprayed with fuel and loosen you gas cap to relieve tank pressure.

Get an impact and rent the u joint/ball joint tool at oreilly auto parts. i had to loosen my ujoints at front and and mid place to get my intermediate shaft off, once i had that off and the support bearing unbolted i stood it up i literally pulled the whole thing off pried off part of it and installed the new one. and i also looked at many youtube videos.

i spent 7 hours working on it with my dad we aren't mechanics but we have some basic knowledge. so unfortuneatley no pictures:(

They're both kinda pricey really, I've got 5 vehicles to keep on the road, but it's the price i pay to live in So Cal i guess.
The smog check now is nothing more than the state computer downloading the data from the trucks obd II, and if there are no error codes, it's a pass. Takes about as long as it takes to download a couple of songs. Chunk.

If you mean expensive, i agree, that red motorcycle in my avatar to the left is 40 years old and cost $93.00 per year for DMV fees, and California just added an additional 12 cent gallon gas tax and a DMV per vehicle sur charge of up to a maximum of $175.00 per vehicle, per year to start next year. But I'm sticking out out here, the weather is to nice to go elsewhere. I like sun and surf. Chunk.
