What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

That’s is sweet. How difficult was it to get the key programmed?

 

how did you do it ?

 

I actually just used the chip out of my spare - I was able to cut it out and not completely destroy the shell, so if I ever want to put it back together, that's still an option... and also just in case the blank I bought didn't work as well as I had hoped.

Luckily, all works great once I found a locksmith that could cut the key!

 

Nice. It’s hard finding the right locksmith especially one that will not try to overcharge.

 

Nice I'm guessing u will love it. My truck is pretty damn heavy and I can blow past most other non sc, non dap tuned tundras.

 

You will need harness. I don't have but I know u do.

It's the little things. Tnx to @Squatting Pigeon for the valve caps and now I finally have a coffee mug that not only matches my truck but fits nicely in our gigantic cup holders.

U said u were holding off on getting lights bc u weren't sure if u needed a harness or anything else. I was just informing you that u will need to get the harness. Are the caps Aluminum ? I was told by a friend that’s a mechanic that the aluminum caps can bond to the stems in some conditions and destroy your TPMS. Problem was, he told me after I destroyed my TPMS because I used aluminum caps. It happened on my 12 DC tundra. I think they are the same ones you have. I got them on Amazon. Just looking out.

 

No problem, us NJ pro owners got to stick together and take care of eachother. Just ask around, I try to help my fellow New Jersian tundra owners as much as I can, even outside the state too. I get nothing from doing this, just enjoy helping people. Cant hurt and hopefully 1 day, if I need a solid my goodwill will come back to me. Just PM me whenever if u decide to do it. Take care.

To elaborate a bit more, I was getting new tires and the guy came out from the back to get me, we went back to the shop area to take a look. He didn’t want me think they were ripping me off, because the company I work for spends 20k/30k with this shop a year. They were unable to removed the caps because they had seized to the stem. I watch them through the whole process. 3 of the 4 caps were fucked, could only remove one without destroying the TPMS

 

Don’t remember what case exactly, it’s been at least over 4 years ago.

 

I did notice they screw in much further before they bottom out than the plastic caps. I'm wondering if maybe I don't tighten down all the way and maybe only leave them on about half way they'll be ok? I'm pretty confident there's way more than enough threads to keep them on with only going about half way on. Hmm.

 

Minimally, I would check every once in a while. We both live in New Jersey and you know how much salt that we get in the winter.

 

I'm going to back them off a couple turns from bottoming out. I also change oil and rotate my tires every 5k, so I'm pretty sure between not tightening all the way and with checking them at my tire rotation intervals I should be ok. But I appreciate the heads up on them and appreciate Holden the extra info as well on the material. See u guys are great.
