How close do you have to hold the heat gun ? I installed the lift with my father and brother so moving a little bit of plastic should be easy can you add some photos of how much to move the plastic ? I’m not rubbing the front anymore just the rear mud flap I though about grinding the plastic down.

 

Who sells the shims ?

My A.R.E. CX Classic came in last week and it was put on today. So happy with how it came out. It took roughly 11 weeks to come in, so about what they said to expect. Now to pack it full of stuff for the move to Texas this week. Before that though, remote start goes in tomorrow.

Yeah. Good vacation. My daughter’s boyfriend dropped us off and picked us up so the truck was at the house all week with him staying here. All in one piece... but he was supposed to wash it and he didn’t.

I’ll give him a break - he has five other cars to work on this week and it sounds like none of them went as planned.

I debated that for months. Ended up getting some 285s and felt it looked just about perfect. Just need to get her leveled and I'll be happy!

I moved the front about 1/2” where it was rubbing. I don’t have good photos but was able to heat the hard bend in the rear mud flap and basically “flatten” it enough to fix the rub. I recommend a good heat gun with both air flow and temp controls. Work slowly.

 

285/75 R18? Just looks a little too skinny for my taste.

 

If you’re not rubbing in the front, I’m not sure how bumper shims will help.

 

They're 34x11.5. Given the spacers it pokes just enough. I thought about waiting and getting some 35x12.5 but I didn't want to give up the stock TRD suspension just yet. She's only got 7800 miles on her so I'm not quite ready to chop her up just yet.

 

Why not 295/70s?

 

That’s exactly where my truck is rubbing in the swell of the mud flap hopefully I can flatten it out.

 

You must have the 285/70. Those are 34x11.5. The 285/75 is a 11.2 I think. Taller but skinnier.

 

I wish I could have because the 285s were more expensive than the same 295 NRGs. They actually wouldn't fit. I tried Coopers and couldn't turn the wheel backing out of the bay at Discount. I'm looking into a leveling kit, but even then I don't know if they would work. I still had to mod the front to get the 285s to work and still have some minor rubbing in reverse.

 

That was my debate. I had 285/70's. I couldn't run a 35x12.50 without a BMC because I have a 0 offset. I considered the 295/70 but it is so close in size to the 285 but 10 lbs per tire heavier. Ended up with another set of 285's.

 

That is correct. I didn't even look at 75s since the 295/70 wouldn't fit. The 285/75s are actually skinnier than the 285/70. I definitely like the meatiness of what I have

 

I had some rubbing with 295/70s but just removed the front flap, heat gun to shape the front liner and mud flap, and trim or bend the “ears” on the factory skid plate. Add a TRD skid plate and no mods needed. I also have the TRD Pro Fox suspension.

 

The Cooper Discoverers XLT AT3 295/70 R18 weigh 59 lbs each. What do the 285/70 RG weigh?
