Got the AJT chrome delete kit. I got everything done except the 4x4 knob. How big of a pain is that to get out

Where'd you get it? Do you mind sharing the price and how long did it take to install? If you're installing new tweeters, I'm guessing you had to take apart the dash to some degree and you ran some kind of device or wire in to your glovebox. Did you do any cutting or drilling for that?

The stereo on these Tundras is the most disappointing thing, IMO.

You truck sits exactly like I would like mine too. Very nice. I have 33's and not 35's, but what lift are you running?

The 4x4 itself isn’t hard. Only time consuming part is taking apart the entire dash to get to it. There is a YouTube video by @2020Platinum that is excellent. He shows step by step procedures

Yea I was hoping the entire dash didn’t need to come apart. Guess that’s next on my list since I’m too ocd to leave the current knob in there.

You don't need to pull the whole dash apart. You only need to get the AC controller out like you did to do the knobs and trim. Then, use a long skinny flat screw driver and work around the side of that opening to get to the tabs that hold the 4x4 knob into the trim. It takes a bit of patience, but it can be done. I've had mine out 3 times now - once to swap for the MESO trim only to discover I'd gotten the start button trim on accident, then a second time to install the MESO red trim, to decide I didn't like the red knob trim, and then a third time to do the MESO black trim.

I have used their upgrades in my Subaru's in the past and they are very nice plug and play kits. I will be going this route on my 21' Tundra. Yes, I agree the audio system in the Tundra is as disappointing as Subaru ones. I have not heard the JBL system, but I have seen enough people on here complaining. I'm kind of surprised that it is lacking also. I had the Harmon Kardon premium system in my 20' Subaru Forester Sport and it is the best sounding stock system I have ever heard.

Thanks. I could have bought nice plastic adapters but when I have this stuff laying around and it costs me nothing, hard to justify spending money. Sound will be the same.

Man, sorry. I have the same damage on my truck. Was there when I bought it. I'd be curious what it costs to fix this.

Thanks man. Took longer to swap the knob than to pop it out of the dash.

Im still trying to figure out how you all are pulling pieces out without breaking the little clip retainers on the tops of the sections. I pulled on the AC panel as straight as I possibly could and the black clip retainers both sheered. The panel still goes back in and does not move once everything is re-assembled. I’m just worried about the radio. When I take that out to install my dash mount, I’d like to keep those clip retainers intact. Straight out and steady as she goes I suppose.

Wow - I've not broken a single clip. I did lose one of the white sub-clips when I swapped the entire silver dash surround, but the new one came with a full set. I go pretty slow and steady, and use a variety of trim tools to pry and pop one spot at a time. That, and they loosen up a little the more times you're into them, so I can literally have most of my dash opened up in under 5 minutes now.

    Not sure at this point.
Didn’t really do anything except... starting the road to get 35/37s in the future!!

Got the BMC plates from Relentless Fab for a BMC... now I just need to find a local one in CT. Anyone know of any off road shops that can do a quick turn around (a few hours) for a BMC? How long does it usually take?

Yeah. The colored clips were fine. The little black tabs they clip to on the AC panel itself were not. It took a fair amount of pull to get the top to budge. Much more than it LOOKED like the YouTube dudes I watched were using. Either way, I went to HF and bought more pry tools to help out. I’m sure it’ll go absolutely perfectly with zero issues when push comes to shove. :monocle:

LOL - that's because the "youtube dudes" have probably had theirs popped open a few times and each time they get a little easier.

Got it directly from OEM Audio Plus.
    https://oemaudioplus.com/

Just about $1500 with shipping. Not cheap, but I’m a music guy (play drums and a little guitar). I had to do something about the trash stereo sound so this was very much worth it to me. No cutting. The only thing I drilled was two small pilot holes for the screws that hold the bass control knob and another hole for the wire to the knob. Other than that its all completely plug n play. Access for front tweeters by popping off sail panels. Easy. Rear tweeter swap require removal of rear door panel. Also pretty easy. Didn’t mess with the dash at all. Removed rear seats to mount subs/amp and driver side rocker panel moldings to run power from amp to battery. They have videos and pdf instructions that make the install pretty seamless. The most difficult thing for me was figuring out where to mount the bass control knob. You can see I mounted it above the 12V outlet in the center console. I cut out the part of my console organizer tray so then I would have easy access to both. I know there are other options out there but this seemed to be the least invasive and maintained all factory functions which was important to me.

Ya mine are adjustable.. they will be adjusted slightly. My truck ride about 3/8” lower on drivers side. So I lower coilovers 1/8” throw on the shims and I’m still at my 2.5” in front. Boom shakalaka. Lol

I think his point was why not just adjust the passenger coil over down (or the driver coil over up) to adjust for the lean rather than putting in a shim. People use shims on 5100 and 6112 because the heights for the coil over are preset - you don’t have the ability to adjust height beyond the preset manufacturer settings like you do with Fox or Kings.

If you're within warranty still, get it done.. I'm out and learned the same...will wait until it becomes more severe before I drop $3k on it...argh! I'm only at 65k miles...

Confirmed leak at 63,000. Waiting to hear what they plan on doing and if they will cover under powertrain warranty. Fingers crossed.
