I have a 2019, so my head unit is probably not older. I like the look of the HU. There are certain things I simply am not going to do...the benefits don't outweigh the costs. It's not a $$$ issue. I want my dash to remain looking factory. I like the HU that's in there now. All I want is for it to be louder but if I can't get it louder, I live with what I've got, period.

Are there any threads or information on going the factory HU/signal processor route? TBH, I don't know what a signal processor is and I don't know what ACP or AA mean? Regardless, I'm not looking for perfect, just better than what it is now.

Signal Processor - creates a usable signal from the factory HU and also gives you RCA outputs to use aftermarket amps as the factory HU does not have those. Only way you can keep the factory HU if you want to build the rest of your system.

ACP - Apple Car Play there are adapters that can get this on your factory radio but with the cost of that and the signal processor you can get a really nice HU that would eliminate the need

AA - Android Auto, same premise as apple car play

I wanted to keep the factory look as well and built my system around the factory HU....Replaced with the Kenwood and sound difference is night and day and with the adapter kits available it looks As good as stock.

Added the TVD decal to cover the last of the chrome. Digging it! A little chrome shows, but the quality is fantastic!

    My build- https://www.tundras.com/threads/rabbidllamas-old-man-build.80802/
To add fuel to this debate. Stock 2019 crew max. Towed our tt which I estimate loaded during this trip is only 4600 lb. (micro minnie). Over 5 hours through Easter WA, ID panhandle to Missoula. Lots of mountains. S4, tow on. Got as high as 250 at trans tc when climbing. But 95% of the time around 215. Not sure if that is good/bad but this is what I got. 75-80 degrees the whole way outside. Kept speed around 62. I just noticed how dusty my dash is, crap!

When you say "stock 2019 Crew Max" are you saying you haven't added an auxiliary cooler? In any case you should also post this on Ruggybuggy's thread, good info.
