Good eye—we left the oem bedmat down there. I figure it might help pad the system in case it does bounce a little bit or something. The far left lower roller was sticking just slightly on one of the raised portions of the mat, but I adjusted the whole thing to the right a bit (maybe 1/4") and it clears now

I plan to build a lift system in my outbuilding to take it off whole. I expect a piece removal to be two men 15 minutes or 25 minutes solo. Re-attach would be longer to align everything so probably 40 minutes solo. I typically do mulch annually and rock/sand occasionally.

    Removal steps:
    - disconnect lift arms and remove rear panel
    - disconnect safety bar, safety cables, and lift arms, remove front panel
    - disconnect 4 clamps and center section.

    A bunch
That's way more work than just taking it on or off in the 3 pieces. Front and back slide off so easy, then the middle I just use an electric ratchet and the clamps loosen or tighten with me outside the truck. Put a little mark on both sides on the rails and you have it lined up in seconds. I put tape around the threads of the clamps to prevent them from backing off and taking the tape off and putting it back on takes more time than to actually remove the 3 pieces - for me it's 10 minutes for removal including the tape (5 if it wasn't there) and 20 minutes to put back on, all solo. Cut that in half if you have 2 people cause you have to walk side to side a bunch if you do it solo.

Sotex, I'd listen to Belanger because I just installed mine yesterday....

Experience says it's a simple job that won't hamper usage of the bed for hauling dumped stuff.

    Thanks Belanger, :hattip:

That's the same percentage I went with mine and my wife who uses it at night since she work graveyard shift hasn't complained about the darkness yet. The front on the other hand might be too dark. Gonna have to roll down the window when a cop pulls up next to me.

Not OP but as these others have said its super easy. Recently moved and taking it apart into its 3 pieces can be done by one person in 10 minutes. If you have someone help you you can just unscrew the bolts and carry it off as one piece in under 5 minutes.

Do yourself a favor when installing to mark the edges of the center piece on the plastic bed rails with some white/silver permanent marker. Makes aligning it a one time job and you can just align your marks you made on the truck rails with the edges of the center piece. Can’t remember where I saw that tip but it is super helpful.

Dealer installed TRD dual exhaust system and tonneau cover. Personally installed TRD Pro grille and surround, side mirror caps, and TRD shifter.
Going to try and vinyl wrap my ugly but functional stepboards (dogs need an easy way to get in), where it’s brushed metal, as a precursor to attempting to wrap the handles. What vinyl are you planning to use?

MAN, I feel you. My flex took at shit at 64K miles. A fractured water pump is the reason why I have a Tundra.

Did quite a bit. Sanded and repainted it. Took over a week of sanding, priming, prepping, painting, and putting back together.
Changed headlights. Painted all emblems flat black and glued them on.
    Quite happy with the results.

I was the sucker that bought the extended warranty when we got the explorer used, but good thing we did. Took it in last month because we were having some electrical issues. In addition to the wiring issues they found, also had fwd and rear ruptured motor mounts and water pump needed to be replaced. $4500 billed to the warranty company. The warranty runs out at about 100k, at which point I think we’ll have to trade it for a 4Runner.

Yeah get out from under it. I was lucky. I drove it to the dealership just about dry of coolant. They did their little test drive and offered me 9k trade in. I didn’t haggle one danged bit over that.
