Saving this for future ref

Trying to get my front bumper shipped from Steve (SS Built). but we know how that goes.
When I'm looking at rear bumpers I'll circle back; do they do a high clearance version?

But, after several years when dirt and mold affect the PPF, how do you remove it? Mine on the front of my hood comes up in tiny strips and the adhesive sticks to the paint ...extremely difficult to remove.

Mold? I think if washed on a somewhat regular cadence mold is not an issue. Yes, after a number of years the edges can become an issue but I would rather deal with that than some major rock chips that turn into rust.

Swapped out the high flying steering wheel, went back to the OEM steering wheel. Put the high flying wheel in the wife's Sequoia. I like the oem wheel much better. I've got a feeling the wife isn't going to like the high flying wheel either.

    Kinda long bro,
What brand PPF did you use? 3m, Suntek and a few others especially dealer installed PPF are not as high a quality as XPEL PPF. IMHO. 3m and Suntek are also known for a condition called orange peeling as they age. A really good installer will roll the edges over the lip of a hood or door edge and not leave the end visible. This is critical so that the material does not lift up and the adhesive loosen. There are lots of installers, the key is to get the right one who knows his craft. If you ever meet an installer that will install PPF on a vehicle that already has paint chips you have the wrong guy.

My installer uses a steamer to remove old lower quality or other off branded PPF. And agreed it certainly can be a PIA to remove, so far in the last 18 yrs I have not had to remove any PPF from any of my vehicles. That said my vehicles are always garaged and hand washed. They never see a drive through carwash. The chemicals used in carwashes is caustic and brutal on paint and PPF in my observation.

My installer is super talented and mostly installs on high end Bentley, Benz, Lexus, Mazi’s, Porches, etc. I cannot emphasize enough it’s all about the installer and quality install.
Sorry to hear you’re having such an issue. If installed right, and well cared for meaning cleaned and using a “boost” product on PPF after hand washing PPF should last a really long time. My Trucks and cars never see a drive through car wash, I hand wash. Just me.

Drilled and tapped holes to mount my winch controller and power disconnect to the Slee Offroad accessory tray. Also made up and installed the first two of my power cables with sheathing and crimp terminals, using 1/0 battery cable, from battery to disconnect and disconnect to winch controller. Also drilled out some holes for the power and control cables for the winch to pass through the back of the accessory tray, then installed plastic insulating bushings.
Going to make up the other 3 cables with crimp fittings when I install the bumper and winch, then make the final connections to the controller.

My bad, I was thinking HC would require cutting sheet metal under taillights (referring to Tacoma HC experience). If you have/get more pics I'd love to see them.

Also just checked out their website. I saw one pic with the lower beside not cut but others looked like it was but (behind the rear tires). Thanks for all the input. I'll be interested in that one if they can add shackle mounts to it.

His dasaita radio came with that adapter which does retain the OEM USB outlet. The one that I linked I’m trying to plug into the two USB’s from the back of the radio which I are for the wired CarPlay or wired Android Auto.

I ordered the one that I linked above and it should arrive tomorrow. I measured the dimensions of the blank I popped out and it seems like it should be the right size.

Nice! Thanks for the pics. Been thinking of a similar intake but was thinking the inlet where my air pumps used to be. Intercooler tank location?

I’m not 100% sure to be honest. It has two USB cords from the back and one is labeled as “phone link” And the other just as “USB”. I assumed it was for wired CarPlay, but could very well be wrong. The installation instructions were very minimal in what was provided with the unit.

After a quick google search you are correct that it does not have it.

I just installed my Dasaita HU a couple weeks ago and left the two USB cables harness out but I don't see why that USB you linked shouldn't work. I don't know about wired carplay or Android auto since I've only been using wireless. Let us know if that does work. I think it would be a pretty cool add-on.
Does his truck have JBL audio? Does it seem like full audio is coming out of all speakers? I've been trying to figure out what seems to be a common audio issue where not all speakers seem to be working. I've read that it might have something to do with my factory amp. I am non JBL and seems like only my front center speaker works. I don't think I'm getting full audio out of my door speakers.

Btw: Check out Agama launcher. It's got some pretty cool customization

Has anyone in this thread had a Dasaita unit die on them? Mine didn’t last 2 months. Am I alone here?

Mines fairly new so hoping it doesn't happen to me. Are you able to get into the settings or does it not boot up at all? I'm guessing you've tried the reset button, right?

I’ve heard the unit with less ram is less reliable, but the unit with more ram is pretty decent

I lost all audio, steering wheel buttons stopped working and the trajectory lines on the reverse camera disappeared.

Reset button didn’t fix anything. Dasaita support couldn’t help so I returned it. Installed the old factory unit and audio and buttons have returned to normal. Clock currently isn’t working but I’m looking to replace it with something more reliable.

Amazon dropped off the usb port this morning. It appears to be the same shape and size as the blank I popped out from his truck. The tabs that hold it into place also look to match the blank so it should work. I won’t be able to confirm til next weekend when I’ll see his truck again. As noted above, the two usb cords are not for wired CarPlay as the unit does not support it. I’m guessing these are just extra usb ports for the radio in addition to the retained OEM ports. I’ll follow up next weekend with confirmation if it does indeed fit in case others are interested.

His 2020 SR5 is amplified non-JBL. All functions are working correctly including full audio from all speakers and the balance and fader works as well.

9/20/2025 - Same guy, replacing the film on the fender flare, after I brainfarted with my power washer. Notice the film under the headlight; it's almost 8 years after application. The film that I wrecked came off in one piece, with just a bit of steam applied under it.

Dropped the skid plates again so that I could install the crush washer that fell off last weekend. So in the end, I drained 4.9 quarts, rein stalled 5.5, and got about 1/2 quart out when doing the temp check and check plug drain. I drained it until I got a trickling stream from the outside edge of the hole.
