Yes, coming from a 07 owner, they were notoriously touchy on the throttle. I upgraded the gas pedal to one out of a 14 truck and that helped a lot, but I also remember reading they changed the throttle map in 14 and again in 18 with the refresh.

That reminds me to take the charcoal filter out of my airbox… might just be snake oil but I’ve read good things about it in the past

Shifter trim was the most annoying as the plastic rivets are pretty deep, it’s easy enough to drill them out though; cup holder trim takes all of 3 minutes

Giving me PTSD with S4; on my 07 while the torque converter was failing I drove for months locked into S4 unless I was on the highway; this kept the code from setting and prevented flex lockup

I’ve tried both the Pedal Monster and pedal commander and didn’t care for either. They were fun for a bit but didn’t quite have what I was after - which was really some transmission shifting modifications to go with the improved throttle map. I don’t like accidental whiplash out the gate. Plus, folks around here - myself included - drive less aggressively so if I’m driving around town it’s more work to manage the ponies trying to bust out of the corral than to whip them up in to a frenzie when I need them.

I’ve been much happier with my OTT tune that modifies the shift tables rather than only giving it more throttle blade per push of the throttle pedal.

My ‘13 had the best throttle map, IMO, for a stock tundra. Predicable, powerful, but well dilated. The ‘15 sequoia was lazier but shifting felt really discombobulated. The ‘21 tundra acts like a teenager trying to get out of bed in the morning; but it has the most aggressive tow/haul mode of the three. Compensating, I guess, if for nothing else than the lack of a transmission cooler. But it’s all an easy fix.

Sounds like you guys just need to grow up and get the OTT tune :D

Just received my block heater and waterproof plug. I know it's completely unnecessary here in Colorado but I hate the cold, so anything that warms the truck up faster is a win in my book.

Ha, I was wondering about this. I had a 14 and a 17, both 2wd's, now I have a 20 4wd and it seems alot more sluggish/less power than the 14 and 17. I know the 4wd weighs more than a 2wd, but didn't think it would make that much difference in the power feel.

That looks great! Such a contrast between this fancy stuff & the base sr5 cloth interior. I wouldn’t mind the 15-17 PRO red fabric seats though.

I just hate when I hit 35-40mph and my transmission dumps into an overdrive gear. Seems like overzealous efficiency programming.

I'm happy using sequential shift with no aftermarket tune or throttle mapping.

Thank you! I’m debating on swapping out the shifter for the silver TRD shifter or Black one, I don’t plan on removing any more silver pieces, just the chrome so the silver should still blend in

    (opinions are welcome)

Hooked the battery charger up since it’s been sitting for a month, and installed my new to me exhaust tip.

Would be good to add an oil heater too, that’s more important for the truck than heating up the coolant

It has been quite the adjustment from my old 07 single cab with work truck package (with crank windows and no power locks); IMO I think I like cloth seats more than leather but the seat heater is great for my back

Yea chrome. I guess I'm an old fart, don't feel it but back in "my" day muscle cars had chrome bumpers and shinny chrome Crager wheels. If it wasn't painted it was chrome.

I did the exact same thing in my silverado with the cause the torque converter was toast. The 6.2 with a corsa exhaust sure did sound good ripping in 4tgh gear though. Then I sold it to Carmax

Perfect size for the stock wheels and small lift. You’ll be satisfied with the results.
