Need to pull codes on it otherwise you’re kinda pissing in the wind or pulling out the parts cannon

if it runs and drives fine and isn’t in limp mode than it shouldn’t be that big of a deal

I hope you're right, It freaked me out when it started. I plan on getting the codes run Monday.

What is a decent diagnostic scanner for the average joe that you would recommend?

Those dash lights really make me want to think you broke a speed sensor or speed sensor wire.

A quick test is to see if you can engage 4wd. If no, you lost a wheel speed sensor or wire.

It's not a big repair, even cheaper if you are not afraid of aftermarket parts.

A good bi-directional scanner is needed. I went a little HAM w an Autel, but its paid dividends.

My issued ended up being a bad ABS sensor on one of rear wheels.

Not in the least. Napa has new sub-assemblies for each wheel, that’s the path I went. I also grabbed a few spares from a vehicle at the local pick and pull.

If you’re in a rust prone area, soak the mounting bolt at the wheel and be careful of the connector to the sensor. 2 banana job

Awesome. just read over that thread you copied and that is some good info. THis is a southern truck so it doesnt look to bad underneath. I went under it today and took my time looking for damaged wired or chewed wiring from back to front and didnt find anything in terrible shape. I hope my issue is the same as yours.

Also, just check the simple stuff like your battery….weird stuff happens w low voltage, but not so low that it wont start.

    Alot of them
Cupped tires and worn ball joints. Shop found the joints worn when they put my new wheels on. The tires were a year old at the time. He said he didn't rotate them because they would correct themselves after I replace the joints. I replaced the joints with the new maintenance free set but evidently it was already too late for the tires because they were cupped. I have a set of DK's to replace them but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Pretty easily, they provide soap/water solution and a squeegee to get it on. And looks great afterwards. I’ve got it on my 2016 Tundra, and a spare kit for 2018-21 they accidentally sent me.

hmm there are a ton of options

A lot of guys on here seem to use the carista bluetooth OBD scanner, it links to your phone and you see codes on that, so the tool itself is really cheap but you pay a monthly fee for it IIRC

I bought a Topdon Artidiag 500 for daily use at the shop and it works surprisingly really well for how cheap it was (~$140), with lifetime free updates so no monthly fees

If you're only dealing with Toyota or Lexus cars though I would probably go with Launch, they sell vehicle make specific scanners so from my understanding they can literally do almost everything you want a scan tool to do, but for a specific vehicle manufacturer (IE Lexus/Toyota/Scion or Chevy/GMC/Cadillac), so because of that they end up being a pretty good price. If I didn't want mine for all makes and models I would have gone that route.

These Launch ones seem to be good (my Topdon is also on sale for $130): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CDPKN3X4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D626T9HK
    Topdon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XK3DJ42
Bluetooth phone one with a ton of reviews and it says no update fees ($70): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00652G4TS

You can also go to your local Harbor Freight/O'Reilly/AutoZone and they sell scan tools as well but you will pay a markup at the parts stores (not HF)

Bush Company makes solid products. They have a location here in AZ a few mins away, been over there a couple times. You got me looking at this- better looking than SmartCap or OVS models. and not some cheap chinese product.

First and third ones are pretty damn cool.

Honest feedback on #2…looks like it has a big ol boner that its giving you a thumbs up about.

What sort of process is that for etching?

Revamped the TRD skid plate. Painted dark colors trying to keep it subtle under the truck.

Can anyone recommend an alternative way to mount front license plate without drilling holes for stock bumper? Thanks

If its the front you could rig up a piece of flat steel, drill some holes in it and place it behind the lower bumper grill piece and bolt the license plate to it from the outside. Kinda like sandwich it together.
