It's the fastest/quickest model 2.5 gen Tundra that Toyota produced. :burnrubber: Amazingly faster/quicker than any white 2.5 gen Tundra, those poor suckers got ripped off!

I'm not gonna argue. Presently running my '08, super white thru the Tennessee mountains. It has no issue pulling a 7k 5th wheel RV thru these hills.

The '21 is sitting at home. It's definitely not as powerful...just newer.

Front or rear? Either way they’re both built by @STravis at SOB Fabrication. Highly recommend his work.

Do it! It’s a solid rear bumper. I tow with it too. The hidden winch is a nice addition.

Same here just today, actually. Almost identical in the exchange, too. Though she may have cussed while mentioning that I should have bought a Supra instead.

How's the turbo experience going? The shop that built yours is 2 towns over from me. It's tempting.

That's a tough question to answer. It's well captured in the General Turbocharger Thread, but for a recap, here it goes...

Full transparency: Jesse and Turbokits.com have been fantastic throughout, even with an issue outside of their system.

Experience: I beat the snot out of it for essentially all towing season of 2024. Even at low boost (4psi or less), it woke the truck up beautifully and completely changed the towing experience. Sounded great, big hit at car shows and cruise nights, etc. I made the jump to full stage 2 (injectors, fuel pump, etc) and let's say it was extremely competitive with the SC guys, especially given I was at a peak of 6.7psi. I believe I'm still top 10 or 13 on the Dragy list. 2024 was amazing!!!

Hiccup: January of 2025, I had a syphoning event with the AEM water/methanol kit. Essentially, it sent 1.15 gallons of Boost Juice into the crank case and after a 20 minute warm up in the driveway and a 3'ish mile drive, it threw a rod. It was the safety net that bit me, unfortunately, but lots of fantastic lessons learned as a result and while I'm sour on it, it is a good solution with the accessories added (solenoid) to prevent it. Despite having all of that sent through the turbo, the turbo went back to Precision for inspection and rebuild, and they found only minimal scoring on one of the bearings, which is impressive.

Path forward: Jesse (@TurboKits ) worked with me on figuring out solutions for the motor, and after debating going salvage or not, Jesse worked with me and XAT Racing to spec out fully built long block for it. That took 8 months to arrive in CT where the swap is taking place at ECS Performance. We're working through the last of the hiccups associated with that and then it is off to Jesse and his fabricator for a custom 4" turbo back exhaust, their 880cc injectors, a larger fuel pump, etc. While it wasn't planned, I'm making lemonade out of lemons and just making it a complete sleeper. Motor and turbo are both good for 1,000+ HP but it'll be dialed back to ~650whp until there is an easier trans upgrade. For me, I'm officially beyond the the scope of what the Turbokits.com system was intended to support. The bones are there and I'm only chipping away at things I need for my own build while leaving the majority of the kit as-is. Even the turbo-back is minimally different than their existing solution, I just need more flow. The fueling upgrades really aren't that drastic over their kit, either. We've hit the part where we can focus on the upgrades which is pretty darn fun.

The kit itself: Again, the General Turbocharger Thread has plenty of the data from my experiences, the lessons learned, and the ability to refine certain things. With more and more people purchasing, there is a better sampling, which is proving that my experiences were not unique and the knowledge sharing is finally happening. I will say that while the Stage 1 kit is plenty for a lot of people, Stage 2 is where it is at for minimal additional cost overall. The intercooler and running 6-7psi without fueling concerns is the sweet spot. It also makes the water/methanol 100% optional. We've had discussions with the SC crew about times, we have the data points via Dragy slips, and I'll say that Jesse (@TurboKits ) really did a fantastic job in the selection of the turbo and the the entire design. The lag is insanely minimal and the entire solution is well thought out and performs very well. I have no regrets going turbo, and I really do have to say that Jesse and turbokits.com are truly partners with their customers. I can't explain it well enough to do it justice, but I don't know of anyone who has worked with him/them and didn't have a similarly positive experience.

Jesse has the shop truck with Stage 2 on it. You should hit him up and ask if he'll take you for a quick ride so you can experience it. If he's not available and you end up near 495 in central MA, we can plan a meet up once I have mine back. It really is one of those things you just need to experience to fully appreciate it.

So, finally installed a bumper step, as well as the OEM power tailgate lock. Now maybe I can finally stop cursing about the fact that the tailgate lock unlocks “backwards” from all my other Toyota locks.
I know there are other alternatives, but I got the OEM kit at a discount. I have to say, the instructions were great, and every little thing was included.

You should be able to flip the lock 180°

you just take the handle out, take the back “lock” off the lock cylinder and then flip the lock 180°

(At least that’s how my 07 was, 2.5 gen could be different since I haven’t taken one apart yet)

I added the old man bumper step a couple months back. One of my favorite mods. Did you go OEM with the step also?
