I didn't realize that about the cold but it makes sense. I bought one a few years ago and it still sits in my parts pile. After cleaning my throttle body last fall, I was thinking about installing the catch can as a mini weekend project. That photo of the mounting location looks decent.

I agree, it's a clever spot to mount the bracket, but the bracket itself is clumsly looking to me. It could easily be improved, and I bet someone could draft something up and send it off to one of those sheet metal cutting/stamping places to have a couple hundred stamped out to sell on here.

i want one. But i want mine to vent through a tube in my driver side exhaust pipe for a vacuum signal & to spray on people that need to be passed on the left.might even build a ‘purge’ button.

I'm pretty sure the bolt holes on the firewall are in the same place, same spacing, same thread, at least for the AC/RC frames. Some of them have something bolted there (I forget what, maybe a vacuum line support?), but ... that could easily be overcome, or just add provisions to the part to add onto it. Would need to make sure the can holder has versatile mounting options maybe, to support a couple of models of can. Or maybe make it so it supported holding a molle panel, so you could mount lots of other stuff to it. Could double as an electrical mounting panel for some of the folks that are setup for a couple weeks off-grid.

Call them, I think the number for Auto division is (606) 878-6523

You can try emailing their Sales people also @ info@aisinworld.com

It's also possible you got re-boxed equipment, someone got intimidated and re-boxed, then returned. You can also try contacting RockAuto to discuss, they'll likely exchange after they pull and compare to another part. I've never seen that before.

"I just purchased a timing belt kit for my truck, and I have concerns about the authenticity of the belt, it appears the cam timing arrows on my belt were drawn on by hand, and I'm suspicious..."

Thanks everyone, I'll give Rock auto a call.. I noticed another box for the idler had been opened. Maybe someone returned an Amazon purchase to RA?

Sorry about the resolution, it's the best I can do while zooming in. This kit came from Rock Auto and installed last week.

Did it come in a sealed bag like this, or was it loose in the box?

Here's some pics @des2mtn and @Gnarbrah's posted which show the normal writing fairly well:

@flyfisher also had doubts about a belt he purchased online. The belt said "Made in Japan", see this thread.

This is how the box came packaged, with each item wrapped:

Mitsuboshi is a major supplier of timing belts thru out the auto industry...to all the big players ... a good belt.....just be sure of your markings....that belt may very well work for you if everything lines up on both cams and the crank ......

Thanks Shifty, those marking definitely looked stamped. My belt was NOT in a bag, water pump was in a sealed bag, gaskets in an open bag...

I suspect that belt has been tampered with then. I looked back on half a dozen posts with open-box of the TKT kit 021, and every single one of them had the belt in a bag, at unboxing, just like the water pump. And it appeared it was a sealed bag, not an open-end bag like the water pump gasket.

That alone is enough to warrant me to post a support request via your RA order page (you can't call them). But when you combine it with the handwritten-looking bullshit, and the unbagged belt, something ain't right here.

Question. The water pump I bought from Toyota came with 2 O rings. One small and a bigger one. Not sure where the bigger one goes and don’t see where it would go. IMG_1912.jpg

ok fairly sure figured it out. It goes on the thermostat pipeIMG_1914.jpg

Toyota sells the belt on its own and think it’s around $70-$80. Should be ready to pick up tomorrow if you order today. If you don’t want to wait 2 weeks.

Oh, not sure if the dealer near you is like the one near me but I usually get the part # from them then order it through their auto parts website. It’s like 30% cheaper than ordering it directly from the parts department at the dealer.

I'm pretty certain that because the kit fits a wide array of Toyota models they include both o-rings since they don't know which specific model it's purchased for. They just go by kit # and send it. The end-user just uses the one they need.
