Fixed my bad coil problem with a new coil swap out and took it for a 10 mile womp on back roads and the highway. No codes (yet).

It is nice! I use my other buttons every day now. It’s nice to be able to activate Siri with the steering wheel button vs fumbling around on the head unit

I'm still back an forth on buying their 00-03 version for my 03.
I'm obviously a little hesitant after the experience on my 06. But more so because my 03 is only reading a little high, so it actually helps keep me from speeding sometimes. (IE: 40mph when going 35mph, or -12.5%.)

Remind me again, you replaced based on code you rec'd, or did you do diagnostics to find the bad coil?

What was the experience on your '06? Just wondering what I should look out for in case issues come up.

I think you'll be fine with your Sequoia.
But I suspect the AC and RC gauges are wired differently from DC and Sequoia.
Mine is an AC. This pic was at idle.

Now I'm wondering what the DC and Sequoia gauges look like and if they changed over the years?
My 03 and 06 gauges are completely different. Water temp, fuel and battery are all switched

That's true for the Sequoia. We got a facelift in '05. Mine is the first year of the newer gauge cluster and other facelifted features. The older one looks way different. I will say that Lutz advertises for all years of the 1st gen Sequoia on the one I bought though so must not be any difference in wiring for the speed signal at least? Interesting...

I have about 2595 pages of ideas to catch up on this thread, but wanted to share my experience with a TRD grille badge I grabbed from Amazon. The all thread it came with contacted some stuff when I closed the hood, so I took the grinder to it and promptly exploded the plastic backing. I used some industrial strength glue last night to re-set everything, including the colored plates I began to push out by threading in too deep.

TL/DR- cut the threads separately and locktite them in place.

Went through similar in 2023. The badge lasted one short 2-3 mile drive. I promptly left a 1-star review and returned the piece of shit so they could throw it away for me. https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-1754#post-3383157

I had one go bad in the middle of nowhere. 200 miles from home and at least 150 miles from my destination. It was 8pm too, and the closest parts store was 45 minutes away.

After that debacle I made sure to keep one in the truck at all times.

Dang-ol’ CV started throwing grease again. Did a reboot/rebuild maybe 2k miles ago, had some issues with the drivers side throwing grease that was resolved easily enough but now the passengers side has started throwing it as well. I do recall hearing an interesting loud clunk on the beltway right before this all started happening, but spinning the wheels in the air and actuating 4WD don’t seem to show any problems with the diff or CV from what I can tell. Drives fine aside from the expected KO2 rumble at highway speed.

    IMG_1798.jpg

Beginning to suspect that I might just suck at putting band-clamps on. Anyone else had similar experience with boot slippage after a rebuild?

Do you have the appropriate band clamp tool or are you half-assing it? Lisle makes a good one.

Most certainly half-assing with a chinesium tool off Scamazon. What’s strange to me is that this one was fine for a 2k miles then just decided to start tossin’.

Morn’n. Little guidance needed. Going to attempt timing belt and water pump change this weekend and wondering if there’s anything else I should do as well?

Planning on the fan clutch and fan clutch pulley. Think I remember Rusty having a thread on what else to do but can’t seem to find it. I did look over the timing belt thread. Tools and vids lined for the job.

    thanks

I'd definitely worry about the fan bracket assembly (Aisin part is available). I think you did the tensioner pulley recently? Maybe consider doing the smaller coolant lines and clamps? Radiator, if not done within the last 100k.

    Another question.
    Here’s what I orderedIMG_1875.jpg
Did the radiator like 50k miles ago. Not sure what the smaller cooler lines are but sound worth doing

There are a bunch of coolant lines across the front of the block, either in the blue boxes here, or coming off the bibs I boxed off - and I don't think this is all of them.

PS "fan bracket sub assembly" is the part I'm talking about. Aisin is OEM and charges 60% less for their part, which is identical. Different photo angles here but you get the point. The OEM may not come with studs pre-installed, be aware. It looks like the Aisin part does? But I heard people bitch about that previously.
