The one major turn off, and maybe why the quality of the image on their cams is so potato, is how thin those wires are. The ground and power were about as thick as two pubes twisted together. I can only imagine how skinny the video cables are. It would be super easy to rip one of those red / green / black wires in half.

I still wanna know how i can run a 1tb memory thing to a set of 24/7 good cameras. How long could i record four 4k cameras before it needs to overwrite?

Depends a number of factors, three big ones I can think of OTOMH being:
    • What resolution and FPS are the cameras set to? (something low-res like 640x480 will record exponentially longer than resolution of 4k, and if you're running 15fps vs. 30fps, you're clearly going to be able to store far more of the 15fps frames)
    • Will the video be compressed using codecs or similar? (would depend on the NVR or potentially the camera)
    • How many cameras? (obvs for each one you add, adding [+1] storage usage)
Most NVRs I've dealt with have a [main stream] and [sub stream] function, and you can adjust so one of the streams is lower-resolution, and you can choose to record the substream only, to save on space.

The equipment I typically work with (UniFi) has a calculator to give you an idea of how many hours recording time based on number of cameras and min/max resolution. There are some generic ones like what Seagate has here: https://www.seagate.com/video-storage-calculator/ and what Western Digital has here: https://www.westerndigital.com/tools/surveillance-capacity-calculator

Another generic tool from non-hard drive manufacturer: https://www.cctvcalculator.net/en/calculations/storage-needs-calculator/

tl;dr - It's wildly variable. Need more info on NVR, cameras, resolution, quantity, FPS, etc.

I wanna be able to zoom & enhance on the people coming towards me that dont turn off their brights fast enough.

100 fps so i can play it in slow motion. I can get on board air, but i dont see how that will help. Four cameras.

Not even a day @30fps. Almost 4 days with h.365. I dont know anything about data compression and dont care to learn. But i wanna put ‘em on my youtube channel.

    side thought about speedo calibrators.
Could you use a speedo calibrator to trick the computer into thinking you’re going 45mph (lockup in 3rd, a340) when you’re really doing 35, effectively locking up the convertor below 2krpm?

Texas has no emission test for vehicles more than 24 years old. Only seventeen of the 255 counties in Texas (around Dallas, Houston and Austin) test emissions anyhow.

Yeah, the “enhance” stuff as seen on TV is bullshittery. It would require immense resolution to drill down into valid pixels. The technology you want doesn’t exist in a price range most ppl could afford, and it would eat thru a TB of disk space in minutes versus hours or days.

I wish that kinda stuff was approachable!

The 03 thinks it's going 40 when it's going 35, with 4.10's. Perhaps if you had 4.30's, your truck would think you were going 45 when going 35.

Swapped shoes between my Toyotas today. I don't love the way the gulf state dealership gamer rims look per se, but I’ll be damned if the C-range BFGs don’t ride significantly better than the E-range Firestone X/Ts.
    IMG_1753.jpgIMG_1754.jpg
I will however say that I am greatly amused by the Patrick Star rims on a 3rd-gen Tacoma, God bless Toyota for using the same hub size for as long as they did.

I finally found another 1st generation for what seemed like a great deal. It was right next door to me, in fact. A spruce mica 2001 Tundra extended cab from my elderly neighbor.

I'm glad to own it, but the guy could not repair a vehicle. At least he tried despite his old age, he's nearly 90 years old! I'll be long gone or sitting in a corner drooling on myself if I make it to that age.

Some of the stuff that I am finding, it would have been better if he left it broken. Not the excellent deal I thought it was, now that I look into it, but I own it now.

I'll post some tomorrow for sure. You guys might have some advice to help. There are cheap hose clamps on the coolant line that runs in front of the timing belt cover, and they leak. The coolant line goes to the oil filter housing. I don't see any way to swap them without pulling the fan shroud and possibly the tensioner for the fan belt, which I really don't want to do.

Fan shroud is easy. Just two clips, one on each side, holding the bottom half to the top half. Most you would need is an extra large catch pan for the coolant to replace those hose clamps and refill.

Sensitive electronics (sensors, pots, contact slides) require electronics/contact cleaner, specifically.

Just got the 1.5l ecotec warm and fogged the airbox with a spray bed liner while he held the throttle down.

2 cans. According to the smoke cloud, that works way better than seafoam.

Just a little update with actual pictures. I don't go out at night very often, was out for SupaBowl party last night and remembered to take some pics (better late than never?)
Trees about 40yds/120ft out, slightly uphill maybe 5-6' elevation rise. Harness used for Hella headlights.

You're foglights with the yellow Auxito LEDs are impressive..... clean cutoff.
This is now added to my list!
Right now I only have only one side of the wheel with SWC and a few extra buttons would be great. And I don't think that my SWC light up. That would be a nice addition too

    @FrenchToasty,

I'm considering buying 3 of these exact panels for an upcoming project. What was your experience with them before you mangled it? What sorts of items did you power with them?

    Thx

So I have two of the 100w Renogy panels that power a 100ah lipo battery; kinda want another 100ah
I mainly run my 79qt fridge freezer, sometimes the max air fan and also my water pump for my water heater for showers. They work well; I would look at a DC to DC charge controller to take advantage of drive time charging of the batteries or magic box if it go that route
