Selling them with the truck. The 16” wheel won't fit on the new models.

The time for me to buy a double cab was 10 years ago. I'd like to have it, but can't justify another 20 year old vehicle. I'm planning to get a GX460 for the fam in the next 2-3 years.

Thats kind of where I’m at. I am in need of something a little newer and less maintenance. Plus we’re going to get another camper van in the near-ish future and we don’t have space for 4 vehicles so it’s time for the truck to be passed along.

Thanks but I have no idea what I'm looking at. Is that a sink or a washing machine?

Truck first, then a turbocharger. Since I don't know anything about it I'll probably end up buying a new unit.

Don't get me wrong, if someone tossed me the right offer, I'd let go of mine also. I love my Tundra, and it's still not done. But I've definitely lost motivation due to other life events, and feel like I'm neglecting it a lot of the time. It could probably use a better home.

Ya I have been working towards this truck getting up to “new” status but have the time and don’t want to spend my time working on it. I could easily drive it another 10 years and it’d be good. But I don’t like taking my wife’s car on every trip because she think my truck isn’t reliable.
She doesn’t believe me when I tell her it is more reliable than hers. I’ve never had to add oil to my truck between oil changes…

Word. Mine will never be back to new status, and that’s ok. I think of it now like I used to think of my uncles old Chevy trucks. They were cool cause they were old and they still did the things. Capable, rugged, and smelled heavily of raw fuel.

I want mine to drive and handle like new, or better. It still has the character and quirks that make it badass. Just like your truck.

    She drive a Subaru?

I prefer driving around the SUV. The truck is killing me on gas, with all the around-town putting. But my reality is, when I looked at insurance, I'm going to be spending $90-150/mo to cover another basic vehicle, depending on coverage, and the [insurance+gas] for the higher-MPG vehicle would cost 50-100% more than just driving the Tundra.

Volkswagen. It’s getting replaced before the warranty runs out. Luckily my insurance will go up maybe $20 per month.
I’ve always enjoyed driving an older truck where I live. In a vacation town where everyone is driving range rovers and Porsches, nobody cuts me off. Haha.

I do miss the couple of VWs I had. The VR6 GTI manual, at least. I don’t miss working on that f’n thing. Several times per year. But man was it fun to drive.

I popped the hood to figure out why the drivers washer fluid nozzle wasn't working but the passenger was(never had problem before), popped the hood turned key and they both worked must've been pinched or froze. Works now though.
Noticed some oil on the bracket for the oil dipstick. Seems to be coming from the valve covers/ half moon areas. Drivers side is worse than passenger, main offender is front corners. Guess that's in my future. Snugged the VC bolts some and cleaned the dipstick bracket to see what happens.

Need to replace the o-ring on the petcock too still leaking. I swear I saw a way to create a vacuum and not have to drain the radiator somewhere. Anyone done this? I'd hate to drain the entire thing of new juice to replace a tiny o-ring...
Also decided to clean up the rear icons prior to attempting to rebuild. Kind of a pita to clean the shock bodies. I have the seal kit and oil just need to find a decent video that isn't time lapsed but also in detail visually.

I'm doing the opposite life choice. I sold a 2022 Ridgeline and replaced it with this 2004 Tundra. I've used the proceeds from the sale to renew the 2004 and now have a truck I am happy to drive. I have a truck with an 8 foot bed that I can perform maintenance on: change fluids, spark plugs, timing belt, etc. Plus, it has the ultimate anti-theft device these days: a clutch.
Now retired, I fully intend for this truck to be the last vehicle I drive.

Went to test battery this AM, crank has been getting increasingly weak.

Remembered I accidentally packed the battery tester and shipped it to Maine, thinking it was my Dremel MultiMax. Both have a similar case.

It's 6yrs old at this point, I think I'll just replace the f'n thing, after testing the alt.

2.5gen CrewMax is one of the ultimate family haulers. At times, I feel the pull to jump up one gen. I didn't go south when I bought my first gen so I'm definitely going to do this when I get my next first gen/second gen
