Nice. I have had mine engaged since (had to look when the snow started) the 10th and only disengaged it a couple brief moments. Probably 200 miles or so.
Another 2 runs back and forth to the local Mill for a ton of pellets today, 4x4 all the way.

    Now I feel belittled.

Must be nice not having to engage and disengage where they plow down to pavement. One of the benefits of living away from civilization.

Tomorrow looks like we'll again use the Tundra. I need to get to the ski condo and make up the beds.

Things are supposed to stay below freezing for about 3 more weeks!

You're almost half way done breaking in new gears. :D

Today I couldn't sleep, so after laying in bed all day I finally got up this afternoon and fixed something that had been bothering me. When I installed my compass mirror and ditch light switch, I accidentally left my hands-free mic behind the plastic a pillar. I got tires of having to turn off my Bluetooth to take calls because people couldn't hear me. Plus my mic was overdue for a fresh piece of double sided tape. :muscleflexing:

:turtleride: that was almost 5 months ago.
All I really want is to get all the TX best gens on the same trail. Two or three other Toyota bros I wheel with have birthdays the same week as me. One of these days maybe it'll be cool enough in September to wheel. :mudding:

Did the 4wd thing to get some coffee this morning, and my 4wd push button light wouldn’t stop blinking. On the way home when I tried again, it didn’t blink anymore and went into 4wd instantly. Came out just as easily too. Did it again as a check, same thing.

That’s really weird. It always used to blink for at least a second or two. Still, I could feel the 4wd and I wasn’t binding going through turns after coming out of it.

    Not sure what to think.

Possible the actuator was frozen up, and the heat buildup from driving freed it?

Wonder if you've got some water inside the actuator...

Dunno. Weird how it doesn’t blink like it’s supposed to do.

I thought it wasn't supposed to blink, and that blinking meant it has an issue until it goes solid. Did the dash light also blink? Did it beep or make a grinding noise?
I noticed on my 06 when I put it into 4hi, it prefers to be in drive. Sometimes it'll do it in park neutral. Sometimes even in drive.i have to ease forward then it engages.
I've also gotten beeps and grinds from switching to 4Lo and changing the gear shifter out of neutral too soon.

No, it behaved normally. It usually needs a couple seconds to get into or out of 4wd and blinks while doing so.

Here, I was moving at 5 mph. Maybe it’ll show back up if I’m at a standstill. That might explain it.

Update: Nope, still goes in/out of 4wd immediately by just pressing the button even at a standstill.

Today I finally got around to cleaning my air filter and clocking my colights.
Since I've had insomnia this week, I've been trying to knock out little shit I been putting off. If I can find the as adjustable rear brake propertion bracket I bought, that'll be next.

I went out for the first time today - steering is noticeably tighter. It feels like I’m telling the wheels where to point instead of asking nicely.

It’s also much smoother, especially at highway speeds.

    1. I paid way. too much for the "released today" Decked system for the DC this morning. First order for the new DC drawers. Maybe they'll give me a free t-shirt or something.... They're expensive, but having lived with and without a drawer system...the drawers work really well for me when traveling, hunting, etc. The ghetto wooden set up I had before just wasn't cutting it. I'll post pics when delivered and installed.

    2. Made it home from my 5460 mile road trip. The last 2 days were a mix of lovely and white knuckling on the ice / pavement / ice / pavement / etc along I70 and I64. Gotta say...at 216k miles I just hit...she's a battle wagon. Even in the -18 (wind chill) the other morning in MO. I only lost it twice on the ice but never ran off the road. Lots of carnage in the ditches though.

Need to make deck plates if you wanna use to top as a tie down. I think someone came here way back when with a modified ?f-250? Decked & pulled the washers through trying to tie down a atv or dirtbike.

    2. not ice, but i was driving a ‘89 toyota pickup (2wd, extended cab, 22re/slushbox) and hydroplaned on beltway 8, spun ccw twice and wound up taking an exit. Havent gambled since.

Been busy since I was last on here. Pretty much did an entire front end rebuild since Christmas and now.

New LCAs, UCAs, LBJs done all in that time. Finally got a good alignment too and it doesn't pull anymore!

Here's a pic as it sits now:

I have been playing around with some designs and 3D prints as well. Here is my latest. It's a rear camera mount that uses the hole left from the rear wiper delete. Then there's a custom Sequoia badge in the hole from the rear wiper blade retainer piece. Here's my post on it.
