Judging by the bolts, I would agree. Even on my truck, my cable was starting to rust so I replaced it. I had to cut out 1 of the bolts out too.

A brake controller is on my Primary List for this winter as we are constantly towing.

Last summer a guy pulled out in front of us but I saw him, zeroed in on his face, noticed he never turned his head my direction, so I pre-emptively slowed down and sure enough, out he came! :eek2:

We had just emptied the single-axle of brush at the landfill. I told the wife (riding with me) "now if we had had the loaded 2-axle, we might have gone right through that guy." We might have anyway, even with a brake controller. Speed was about 25 mph at the time. He actually never made it into my lane as I laid on the horn and he stopped before crossing the center line.

For most of us, driving is the most dangerous thing we'll ever do.

I just figure it's cheap insurance. I like having it even for just my single axle 6.5x12 trailer. I imagine it will be especially useful for an even bigger trailer.

I put the front wheels back on the truck after the LBJ replacement last November. (Bought the truck in July, parked it, did the LBJ in November). It was the first time I had had trouble lifting up a wheel! :eek2:

I ended up using a block and crowbar to lever it up high enough. :anonymous:

Tires are easy if you use a shovel. Get the lug nuts close and adjust by swinging the handle left - right.

If you’re ever in the ATL area, you really need to go to Merlin Auto. Trust me. And hit up Gas Motor Garage.l while you’re in the area. Amazing people and an absolutely incredible assortment of vehicles.

As high up as the Tundra is, we need some way to mount things to the sides!

You should have seen the wife trying to reach over the side to get something out of the bed...she was just missing it (she's 5'2") and couldn't even see it.

What Merlin has on-site is incredible. Super friendly. Gas Motor, they had a gorgeous '70s Dino sitting at Merlin last time we were there. One of my favorite cars of all time.

How many of those miles are yours? I’ve only put 30k on mine in the last 3-4 years.

I bought it with around 137k I think. I've had it almost 10 years. It was a one owner truck before me.

    It was indeed discount tire!
I’m not sure how it would be ruined, but I hope not either, I didn’t drive on it, noticed it; tightened the core and aired it back up

Usually the entry level mechanic job is being the tire guy, and you can only hope that some of those tire guys never go on to become mechanics.

It makes sense why they couldn’t get my swing out open. I told them to not even mount the spare to it. I got one spare mounted to a 4r rim and 2nd spare unmounted for ease of moving and to use its insides for storage when we go camping

Good. I wasn't sure if you drove on it. Dad had that happen once and it ruined the tire. The shop replaced it for him.

My cable was stainless :notsure: but everything else touching it was Rust. Still holding up there tight, not sure how it does that magic with no lock.
