Tightened my valve cover bolts to spec. They were all loose, probably hardly more than hand tight. Spun them at least 360 degrees to get 53 in-lb torque. Doesn't seem to have made a difference on my valve cover gasket leak though. (Common issue on the 5VZ V6.) I think it's about time to replace it. Getting some oil on the exhaust manifold but it doesn't stink when I start it up (yet).

Replaced my tail light which was broken from the time I bought it. Should have done that day 1. Wasn't expensive and wasn't hard to do. Hardest part was getting the little plastic clip off of the connector on the old one and putting it on the new one so it can slot into a hole and keep it from jiggling around. I had previously asked about which tail light to get. @The Black Mamba had good luck with the TYC. I went with the Eagle Eyes. Quality seems very solid. It was a half to a third the cost of others. Guess we'll see if it holds up. If not, I'll go with the one Black Mamba bought.

It also came with bulbs. Very easy. Just plug and unplug the connector. Didn't have to unscrew the bulbs I had and replace the Christmas tree light string of tail light bulbs. I used this video which was helpful and accurate, but there are probably a lot that will do.

Shift lever bushing. Loose shift lever. keywords:rolleyes:

Forgot I had the Wiff add this to her last BigGirl order.
    20251021_145918.jpg

Yellow, but good/tight as can be. (FOCUS YOU FUCK "AvE")
    20251021_152153.jpg

Main arm for the cable was a bit floppy, but bolt was tight. Added a nylon washer/silicon grease. Tightened it right up, we'll see how that experiment lasts. Bolt had Blue thread locker on it.
    20251021_153221.jpg

    20251021_160113.jpg

Lubed the ball slider socket with some silicon grease as well.
    20251021_160146.jpg

A lot of my play was right here, grab a T-30 on that. (Protection I apparently added a long time ago on that OD button wire o_O)
But that pin on the shift lever is where a bunch of play is.

Its all pine, been down and pushed into a huge ugly pile in the corner of our 2 acres since 22 when they cleared the lot for the barndo. It's pretty shitty wood I wouldn't burn for heating.
The MiniSplit heats the house and I have a pellet stove in the shop. It's been fun snatching all the full trees off the pile with the truck and cutting them up. I have burned at least 3-4x what you see there already.
Sort of a senseless project I don't have to do but it's been great exercise since I retired and I dropped 30lbs, so there's that. This whole compound is fkn amazing, so blessed and grateful.

"What have you done to your Tundra" worked it like a truck wants to be. Only broke one 7k strap so far haha.

Nope, D.O.A. was out of Canada, other than Jello singing, no one else from DK played with them. Used to see Jello from time to time around SF and the east bay, lots of stories about him, none of them good.

I saw him at a talk he was giving alongside Woody Harrelson at University of Florida waaaaaaay BITD, 25-30ish years ago now. Wasn't long before that I'd read about how much he effectively fucked over most of the band, so my opinion was quite low, and I was dating someone who smoked a lot at that time (never been my thing), so she was primarily there to see Woody who IIRC was stumping for NORML, and I was along for the ride, and hey, "I get to see a huge figure in the punkrock scene, even though he's a swindly dick!"

I will say though, while Woody was busy talking about weed and making weed legal, as he did with DK's music over the years, Jello primarily covered the signs of fascism, what to look out for, examples of how it starts, and ... while I felt his warnings were super far fetched back then, it proved to be extremely intuitive on his part because much of what he warned about happening is currently unfurling. So, while he's an asshole, a wingnut, and I considered (back then) him to be a little tinfoil-hat-ish with his outlandish warnings, I can say in hindsight he was on the mark.

Still, super dickish how he f'ed over the band.

What did I do to my best gen today?
Drove it home from work. Partially cleaned out my fear from Merus. Drove it back to work.

And while Jello's solo career typically used well established backing bands (kinda like GG Allin, but better), Dead Kennedys was always better. That's not a knock at any of the bands that backed him. But DK was lightning in a bottle. Same goes for East Bay Ray's later stuff... It was never as good as his guitar licks in DK. Klaus Flouride's baselines were amazing too. Then Jello's lyrics and funny delivery was great. Just lightning in a bottle.

If I could make a fantasy rock super group, East Bay Ray and Gregg Ginn would fight over who lead each song vs who was rhythm. Bass would be Les Claypool. Drummer would be Robo. Singer would be Danzig.

last year i saw a bumper mount crane for sale on craigslist. It was off of standard issue 3/4 or 1 ton pickup. The bumper was really heavy duty. If i remember correctly, it had an electric winch on it. It sold fairly quickly. I would have absolutely loved to install that on my old ford highboy flatbed.

I'm sure you're talking about way bigger trees though. Biggest I've yanked off that pile was about 60' and 16-18" at the base. Big toothpicks.

Only this monstrosity of a forest in my back yard lmao.

This is an old picture when I first moved in back in 21. I've cleared a lot of the smaller growth out, but there are plenty of trees out there.

I plan on getting someone out to do some forestry mulching back there. I was quoted $2500 and itll take down anything up to 12 inches in diameter.

    TB/WP Update.
    Pre trip inspection failure....
About to head to town (60 mile round trip) for supplies, and on a whim decided to take a look before her maiden voyage. Found a leak on the hose at the thermostat housing. No problem I thought but when I came back with an old school hose clamp I noticed it was also rubbing on the PS pump pulley. WTF?
I flipped that hose around when installing, and it only seemed to fit one way. Lol, not mad at it, it was old. So lucky I checked before we left though. Looks like we get to burp the baby again .
