Was told the frame recall was done 3 years ago? Seems way late for a 2000?

Any info anyone can glean from the tag would be awesome.

I haven't personally seen the truck yet. Guy is changing alternator and battery and I'll give it a test drive. 220k, which Im sure means it's 40k over for a T belt, best case, but it's a steal at his asking even with that figured in.

    Thanks

That tag simply proves you have 2000 Tundra made sometime in June.............

That's what I thought......he sent it with a message that implied it was somehow proof the frame recall had been done.

Is it a tag over a tag like it looks like to my eye?

As in the dealership put another door tag on it and maybe those magic barcodes at the bottom mean something to someone smarter than me?

That tag looks totally original. Not a Tag over a tag. The frame recall having been done has noting to do with that tag. The frame redo would have another tag stating when the frame redo was done and recorded. Have your local Yota dealer run the vin. If the frame was replaced it would be recorded.............

Copy. Thanks. That's why I'm asking

Any way to tell re the recall from the VIN?

Toyotas website didn't say chit about it. Just the original vehicle info

It should have showed up in the maintenance history, but it's not 100%. Call a dealer and give them the vin, they can tell you for sure.

Ok found it. Had to give toyota a little more personal info. Sigh.

Frame recall was done 2011.....so that takes care of the "three years ago" question lol.

Been in MI ever since.....good news is that was done at 211k and truck currently has 220k....:monocle:

    Been sitting awhile methinks

Open an account on the Toyota page and add your vin to your owned vehicles. It says your frame was replaced in April of 2011. Looks like they replaced a lot more than the frame too. A lot of suspension parts

I saw that too.....and she ain't mine, haven't even seen her in person. Body shows rust in wheel wells in the one pic I got. It's supposed to be a beater farm truck and the price is right

Assume the truck is a flaming pile of rusted shit until proven otherwise. Believe nothing, question everything. "It's a steal" is a bad start. Unless he's an 80 year old lady that drove it to church the last 10 years and she "don't know what I got". You've already been fed one line of bull about the frame recall. And the truck currently doesn't work. Good luck.

Don’t ever buy a vehicle under the assumption it’s going to qualify for a frame replacement unless they’re giving the truck away at salvage price. Too many people attempt that and end up eating the vehicle when it fails inspection or it’s only going to last them a year or two.

Absolutely all true. And I was going to ask if that huge list of stuff was always done on a frame swap. I expected to see a one line item "replace frame"

There was also out of pocket work done same time as frame for rear shocks and some other shit. Front tie rod end is noted as being rusted and truck unalignable. The techs notes speak volumes. Truck musta worked in the salt mines.

Or they swapped the gauge cluster at some point. If they are lying about one thing, they could be lying about others.

    LOL.

Seller might say "surface rust". Yeah, on the top surfaces, the bottom surfaces, and the inner surfaces...at least, where there are surfaces left.

Lol he wasn't lying, just a silly stoner. The old guy is a collector of shit, clearly. Lots of stuff sitting around.

He used this to move a trailer around his property according to him.

This would be a summer beater farm truck guys. But it won't even be that if the rust is that bad. I'll post pics when/if I see it

I appreciate that, and I've suffered the consequences before with a rusty pickup

I'm looking at multiple ways to skin this cat.

Beater truck and a daily, or a crewmax to do it all, or ?.....
