    Hey guys,

Any idea on what coils to pair with Bilstein 5100s? I'm running stock UCAs and I have a heavy steel bumper and winch combo in the front. Any idea for a heavy duty coil that will handle well and work with the 5100s? I've kind of been told varying things by different companies (Toytec, Extreme Terrain, Ironman 4x4) and wanted to know if y'all have done anything like this.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Well, 5100s are designed to be used with oem springs. Anything heavier and they will ride even worse than they do with the oem springs under increased preload.

Preload meaning extra load from a heavier spring? I know spacers aren't the best things to do, but would that be an option? As it shouldn't preload the coilover as its on top? Not sure if I'm understanding this right, just getting into suspension terms and talk as of a couple days ago.

Preload doesn’t come from anything done at the top of the spring, the perch the holds it from the bottom is raised on the 5100 compared to the stock perch height. This is where you get the “preload” and lift.
I believe OEM springs are 700lb springs. You wouldn’t want to go any softer if you’re lifting the front and have a heavy bumper.

If you have a heavy front bumper, I would recommend looking into OME spring and shock combo. They have some designed for use with heavy bumpers and extra weight
