Had some fun with photoshop with the newly released 4th gen. Just messing around but i think these will look pretty cool with the right mods. Did one with wheels and a bumper, and then full "broverlander".

That bumper hides the "ugly" for sure and with the lift and larger tires it seems to bring the truck to a proportional look. NOT BAD AT ALL. OP should apply for a Toyota design position :welder:

The bumper end caps partially make up the fender and appear to rise all the way under the headlights.

Can you make a version that replaces those filler panels also? Out of curiosity? @Darkness

Bumper lift, lights removed from grille, vent removed (BTW removing black is against my religion) and slammed it for fun.

No matter what you do, this 3rd gen looks hideous.

It looks like every other domestic truck out there - cartoonish.

Cartoonish is the right description. Nothing wrong with change, but all these new truck front ends are silly. Over done and too "busy" comes to mind. I liked the 14 when it came out but still don't care much for the hood bulge concept. In 07 the Tundra was a game changer at the time without being gimmicky whereas the new one seems to be the opposite at least "looks" wise. All indications are that the mechanicals will be quite good. Need to photoshop that grille.....

Definitely not a fan of the looks of the new 2022...especially the front end.

Those mods do a good job of hiding it, I must admit.

I guess Toyota had to design a massive front end / grille & bumper for the 3rd gen tundra to compensate for the lack of size in the engine bay.

How much work is a 6" lift going to be with a independent rear end?

First post oversized Tacoma. It’s funny how different a vehicle will look in person then a picture. This is no different when Chevy brought out the first C7 in 2014. Guys were hating it and saying they won’t get one. I made sure I bought the last year for the front engine and manual. 19Z06. I have had a lot of Vettes over the years. What’s great about it I could sell my Vette for more than I paid a lot more just like my tundra Pro. Now that the C8 is out same thing guys are hating it and all kinds of remarks. For me I have no interest in it. But I will keep my new 21 Tundra Pro for a while to see where this truck leads to.

No one is telling anyone not to buy anything. I date from the mid 50's and have seen lot goofy and good ideas with trucks. Newer gens prefer the current domestic truck cartoonish look. For now. Go for it and post up a pic:thumbsup:

Didn't mean to imply anyone said to buy or not to buy...the naysayers based on "the look" is reminiscent of the resistance to the Dodge Ram which pretty much pushed the new paradigm of the catfish mouth front ends all modern truck designs seem to have embraced...

When Dodge brought the design out nearly 30 yrs ago Chevy's response was to attack the looks to persuade people that the look was "ugly" trying to keep folks from embracing the new look...and yet Chevy changed as did Ford along with everyone else and here we are again.

I like the new design...like I said waiting on the mechanical changes to see any real value...hoping they live up to the projections.

There's a lot of potential innovations and real innovations coming...which is cool imo.

Anywho...Just a observation & comment on human nature...and I'm gonna be '72 in a couple of weeks bro...:)

I was happy to see a member exited by the new design and looking to show us the potential in modifications...
