Aah, after countless research I think I would like to be at +15 and because of the shortage of the wheels/inventories now I think I will do +25 on the Icon wheels with some Toyos if they ever become available. Can't find them anywhere.

Lol, that was 22 years ago and the screen name stuck with me. I had a 95 gst that I converted to AWD with Forced performance Green turbo that later became a stroker with GT35R. Huge money pit, but loved it. You don't see those cars anymore.

By the way, my buddy took me out to pop my off-roading cherry last Saturday to Cleghorn. I survived.

Oh snap, I recognize Turbonetics exhaust manifold, Magnus sheet metal intake manifold and Tial BOV. My buddy with the gladiator in the pics had a 90 GSX. We've known each other that long. We used to go to Road Race Engineering for all the stuff.

Also had knifed crank, Eagle rods, JE pistons, ARP fastener, HKS 272s and the list goes on. Definitely a fun car. My plan was to find a GSX and swap everything over. I ended up selling it and moving on to a different money pit.

Probably haha. I was only running stock wheels and tires for a couple weeks and didn’t hit the dirt during that time. Not a great frame of reference for that. But without a doubt: no mud flaps and lower offset wheels = more rock chips.
I just got my sliders and tossed them on over the weekend. With the fill plates it should reduce the amount of rock chips.

Perfect. I think I am set. Since I need to wrap the truck at some point because I didn't find the color I wanted I will probably go with +25 and a 10mm spacer to start with. So many wheels and tires are backordered.

I was just scolded by my buddy.....he said off-road vehicles do not use mm measurement for spacers.

Lol. Yeah, typically truck spacers are measured by inches not mm. Smallest I’ve seen is .25” which would be approximately 12.5mm.

I would encourage not to run spacers if you don’t need them. Plenty have and are using wheel spacers without issue, I have a set on my fiancees 4runner that’s been issue free. But wheel spacers do introduce an extra point of failure because you have an extra set of lugs and studs to keep an eye on.

Also with a thin spacer like that you might have two styles to pick:

One that has a new set of studs on the spacer. This style you might have to cut the factory studs because they’ll protrude through the spacers and may hit the back of the wheel making it unsafe to mount.

The other style might be the spacer with open holes to allow the stock studs to protrude through. They likely won’t stick through enough meaning you’ll need new studs that are .25” longer than factory to provide the correct amount of engagement from the lug nut to the stud.

    Pics for example only:

    upload_2021-4-26_12-7-51.jpg

    Edit:
You probably already know a lot of this from cars but figured I’d reiterate it just in case, plus others may benefit from it.

Drove down a random, unnamed dirt road in Death Valley and found this camping spot! This trail was a bit out of our comfort zone for our current suspension, but we made it! Our poor friends in the ground tent were whipped by the wind all night, but our RTT is very sturdy!

    The view was worth it!

Yup. If you’ll commit to the miles to get to us, we’ll do a day run in Anza Borrego on Saturday 5/22 with camping Saturday night for any that want to stay over.

We may/ may not post a dedicated trip thread... a little hesitant because we’re at about 20 trucks so far without doing that... see post #9307 on page 311 for the gist of our plan.

Edit: if we don’t do a separate trip thread, we’ll update the title of this thread a day before the run, with info about which post to check for all details.

You make a good point with the spacers. There have been plenty of issues with cheaply made spacers> I have always ran spacers on all my bmw's and recently the ferrari, but considering my knowledge on the truck and much different suspension/wheel loads I should probably stay away from them for now. I do have stud conversion kits on all my cars. Makes things much easier. Still researching tundras to see what people say.
