Where is this possibilities list you speak of? I have been trying to get a list together of Tundra acceptable trails too.

Is there a thread just for that yet on here?

    I don't believe so. I'm told most of it's 2wdoable.

I have yet to do it, but two friends in Tacomas on 33" tires did it no problem.

^ fact. The hard part has a bypass as well.

Oh this is off by Burns Canyon. I have been wanting to go over there and explore. We can do that most stuff no problem from what I see. Some of the tougher offshoots stock maybe not.

So is anyone going out on the trails still this weekend?

No posted Posssibilities List so far, but it looks like it may fall to me to create one :notsure: ?

    I absolutely don't mind doing
; however, I'd hoped to pass the baton for finding/ leading the next SoCal Tundra run because 1. mine is a 2WD, and 2. I live in San Diego East Co. Most people that showed up on our first 2 runs were from Riverside/ San Bernadino area.

The first run we did as a group was a couple easy (fun!) trails in Anza- Borrego that @eccracer104 led in a 2WD Tacoma with after-market suspension and tires. That was a bit of a drive (pavement) for all of us, from Riverside and San Diego, but about equally so.

Then I planned and led a run up Bee Canyon (east of Hemet up the mountain to Big Bear) and that really illustrated to me that I should not lead a bunch of beautiful, not yet pinstriped Tundras (several 1st-time off-roaders) on a route I've never run. So, while I totally enjoy leading (no more rock dings to my inferno paint!), it will be easier for me to pre-run trails closer to me... and that's not where members showing interest are coming from.
I think @BestGen may be going. I'd love to fall in; however, from what I've found online, what looks fun in a 4x4 might be not really be doable in my 2WD, even west to east.

I grew up driving 2WD's in muddy, snowy, icy conditions, up grades and down-- even backwards for the lowest gearing. But I've observed the really heavy engine of the Tundra makes it so that, if both front tires drop into the same rut, the rear doesn't have enough weight to push the front up and forward. Knowing this, when I've been able to approach at a diagonal (one front tire in and out before the other), I can move through, but the line I choose for this is often not the line best for avoiding pinstriping.

After pinstriping mine on our first Anza-Borrego run (and then paying big $ to, luckily, remove them), I realized I'm very excited about 4-wheeling, but not yet ready to thrash my truck... so I bought a 2001 4-Runner to play with. I've also resumed my search for a Tundra just like mine + 4x4, but being able to find such a unicorn nearby and afford the loss I'll take so soon after buying this one, well, I'm trying to be realistic that this may not be possible.

I'll be thrilled if those of you that go report out. I'll be working this month and starting again in the fall (after a break for hot weather), to create a Possibilities list-- something that distinguishes between 2WD possible trails, and stock 4x4 possible, with the idea that they be starter trails to learn on, after which, I hope, more and more of us will graduate to exploring stuff not so well researched.

Hello all! I went to Big Bear this weekend. Snagged a yellow post site Friday afternoon. Setup camp and when my friend arrived we went to play on JB gatekeeper. It was weird having it all to ourselves! Gatekeeper + mud = :( for my little truck! My friend Kevin(who has a really nice 1G Tundra for sale)could make it locked f&r on 35s. IMG_2119.jpgIMG_2124.jpg Saturday morning was absolutely stunning. IMG_2135.jpgIMG_2133.jpg Then we had a most epic adventure. o_O
We decided to run Lower Larga 2N06x to Holcomb Creek 3N93 then west to 3N16. IMG_2145.jpgIMG_2146.jpg Had lunch while we watched the Jeep parade...IMG_2149.jpgIMG_2150.jpg Then out thru the west end rockgarden that ends right at 3N16(which is 2wdoable. We passed a Subaru group 40+ strong!). Then we rallied back to Green Valley, aired up n headed home. IMG_2152.jpgIMG_2156.jpg IMG_2158.jpg

    Hey all

Just throwing this out there to get a little Yota co-mingling going on!

September 21st - 23rd my buddy Oscar is hosting the 4th annual San Gorgonio Family Campground reunion.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/4th-annual-san-g-trail-runs-tw-family-reunion-9-21-23.547979/

He's already said Tundras joining are more than welcome! We had a big turn out last year, but we're hoping to fill every spot this year!

I have spot 25 and will be there from Friday night through to Sunday.

    Last year -
    [IMG]

You don't need to make an account on TW, just let me know what spot you've reserved and I'll let Oscar know to update the list.

There are going to be a wide range of runs from 2wd fire road to 4x4 crawling. It's totally family friendly and a real campground with facilities.

This is where to reserve your spot -

One last trip before the new baby.
Headed out solo to Mojave Last Saturday to meet some friends that were traveling Mojave Rd. I couldn’t make the whole trip but I figured I could do the last half.

    2017 White Tundra TRD 4x4
    More to Come ...

I understand you on the gas. It is starting to hurt a little. Having the work pay for most of it helps but putting almost 30k on the truck in less then one year hurts even more.

Ouch! I've got a 2016 and I'm still under 30k on the mileage but that's because the tundra has taken a back seat on any long distance driving. We've been using my wife's Camry for pretty much any of our weekend activities. Gas is just nuts right now.
