I don't know if this has been talked about but has anyone washed their engine and engine bay? Mines a bit dirty and want to clean it. What's a good product, what to watch for and not get wet etc..
    Thanks in advance image.jpg

Hopefully someone else can chime in but I was always told to keep the engine running and try to use as little pressure as necessary, not spraying anything directly with the pressure washer by fanning out the stream.

I know I would definitely stay away from any HID lighting components, if equipped, as a precaution.

I'm sticking with driverdog's suggestion. Use your preferred cleaner and hand wipe your engine and components. To much electrical and wiring for me. Retro fit, drls, under hood lighting, that's just my .02. ;)

As Moto and Ron said above.

What I do, depending on level of filth, warm the engine up a bit. Not too hot just warm. Cover ANY sensitive components, HID's or any aftermarket equipment that may be sensitive, Apply cleaner and agitate heavily soiled areas. With a hose use a gentle stream of water to rinse. Sometimes I turn the motor on during rinsing or I'll wait until I finish rinsing.
Then use a drying device to get the pools of water off like a mini Master Blaster. Shut motor OFF and towel dry remaining areas.
Finally, if you choose to, apply something to enhance the motors appearance. I like Sonus Motor Kote...
    http://www.carpro-us.com/wheels-tires-and-trim-care/sonus-trim-and-motor-kote-17-oz/

Be sure to remove any covering material from sensitive areas.

Here is some reading that is beneficial and strongly suggest that you would browse. Depending on your aftermarket items, I would caution about using water streams and cleaners due to frying components.

    Read this********>>>>>>>>>>>>>>http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/how-to-detail-your-engine-bay/

Your motor looks pretty good so a wipe down maybe all you need for now...

Oh...Don't forget those wheel wells!! Lol

Your engine by a lot of people's standards looks clean. Like you I want mine to have that new engine look all the time so I take about 15 minutes every other week to clean.

Here is a link to my post:

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/cleaning-engine-bay.2499/page-2#post-97456

I would follow @WarEagleSteve advice if it was really dirty like if you off road and got into mud/clay.

Don't hit your head too hard on that post. Imho Info gets buried quickly plus it's a great feeling that once in awhile we can contribute something that someone may find useful in real time!

This attitude is why I love these forums - I joined some other Tundra forums when I bought my truck and found that those communities aren't nearly as active, respectful, or helpful as this one is. As a result, other than occasional perusing, this is the only Tundra forum I frequent and the only one I actively take part in.

Just so my post isn't completely off topic, I always have hand detailed the engine compartment and I am pretty anal about it in my vehicles as well. If you keep up on it there will never be any need to spray it down.

There are a lot of reasons why I get satisfaction from cleaning my own vehicles and know that it would be preaching to the choir here.

Post up some pictures of your truck sometimes showing your Tundra all cleaned and shiny.

Backslider, what you said pretty much sums it up, and that's why Tundras.com is the only Tundra forum I engage with. The people here are fantastic and willing to help you if they can. There's no hey man.... That's why we have a wheel thread. I'm not saying you shouldn't look through a thread , as everyone should to try to get an answer to there question. It's when you have an out pouring of support from everyone, including the "Moderators" hahaha. I truly feel this forum has a family like atmosphere, but a lot of shit talking, smart ass comments, etc etc. I'm apologize let me get to the point Best F@cking Tundra forum period. Imop of course. Salute
