Hey guys.. looking at turning in my Audi and getting another Tundra.

I know the dealer personally, and was told he will give the cheapest possible price available.

Want to get a limited or pro this time in black.

I know the 2020 will only have CarPlay (unnecessary-- have in the Audi. not that great) and push start (very nice to have).

My question is -- How much of a discount have any of you seen off 19s lately? Want to purchase in the next couple weeks. If incentives aren't out there that are great, I can wait for the 20 or new body in 21.

Will be financing half, and the other half in cash

out of curiosity what made you sell the Tundra in the first place and why do you want another after having the Audi?

I went in just looking at Audis and the dealer offered me way too much for it. I miss it. But realize, he offered a lot because it was great. At the time I was still getting used to the upgrades (Icon stage 2, methods, stmaxx, DD exhaust) and really liked the truck when it was stock more.

Will be going back to a limited or a pro and leaving it stock-ish lol

How do you know that the 2020 Tundra will have push button start and Car Play / Android Auto? Just wondering. Maybe that also means that they put a better JBL stereo upgrade in the Tundra instead of the current POS.

Jmo but if they do away with a V-8 I don’t think I’ll buy another tundra till this one falls apart. Sounds like it’s not gonna have a V-8. I’d say wait and pick up a used tundra when all the suckers trade in for the new version.

That's actually not a bad idea. I have time, and don't want to rush into this. I at least will most likely wait for the big discounts once the 2020 comes out. Until then I may start stockpiling parts here and there lol.

Hell yeah! That sounds like a plan. I really don’t think it’s gonna have a V-8. Plus you never really want to buy the first year model. Made that mistake with the Tacoma when it came out in 2016.

Just read up on the 2020 changes. If it holds true that a 10-speed, better interior and more tech is available I will definitely buy a Platinum or 1794 in November/December. Can't wait.

Problem with buying a newer used tundra,

That's usually the case but not all vehicles depreciate fast enough tof make buying used more attractive. I bought my 16 tundra new, drove it for 12 months and put 13k on it, got rear ended which totaled it and insurance gave me a check for $2200 MORE than I paid in total out the door including the little bit of interest I had already paid.

I got paid $2200 to drive a brand new vehicle for a year.

Wondering if that is the 2021 next Gen but who really knows. Interesting that Toyota would be putting in a 10 speed transmission on the current gen. Personally, if buying and not leasing, I would try to get a good deal on a 19 and wait until the refresh of the new model to let them work all of the bugs out, make sure it really better to fit your needs (see new gen Taco complaints), MPG is really that much better in real life, and also let prices level out. Can't see the prices not going up on the next Gen.

Hopefully I'm wrong but am thinking the JBL will still suck. Hopefully they fix this on the next gen. I've put up with the JBL for about 2.5 years, and am getting ready to just have it all replaced, head unit and all. There really aren't any features in Entune that I think are worth keeping, at least on my 17. I will say the B&O that was in my S4 was great and was only a $800 MSRP option. The push button start was nice but not something I really miss.

I love the cement color, but wondering if I may get over it. I never got over super white. Would be ok with black too. Just the idea that a legit "color" may be too much. Prob right on the 19s at around sept/oct. huge discounts since they're not really moving anyways.

My 1st model year 07 is purring like a cat although that 16 Taco did seem to suck....Toyota definitely dropped the ball there

I had an 08 tacoma for 10 years. Bought an 18 tacoma limited. Nice truck but the engine trans combo kind of sucks with lack of torque at lower rpms. Gets feeling small on a long drive recently NY to TX and back. Holding out for the next gen Tundra. Hoping for rear coils like the Ram. A 5L motor aka lexus, Light weight aluminum construction.Much better gas mileage which is a deal breaker if no improvement. 8 or 10 spend transmission. They will need a much improved 5.7 or a smaller motor turbo or hybrid. Currently Tundra sucks the most gas but carries and tows the least. Yeah I know its reliable but the way I drive would probably be getting 12 mpg with the current truck. Aluminum body panels are inevitable long term for weight reduction and mileage improvements.

is the current JBL Premium audio the same in the '19 Sienna SE Premium package? We have that in my wife's van, and it's decent for a OEM stereo.

I was doing the new/used shop recently. New, best I found (including 1500 Toyota rebate) was about 4300 off sticker price. The 2019 Limited I was looking for would have been ~ 44k after discount. I bought a used 2016 Limited for a little over 31k.

Actually getting a 2019 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss. Test drove it, and fell in love. Same price as a Platinum, but with more features!

Toyota trucks are not like other vehicles because they hold value so well. I have looked at used but with incentives new works out to better deal. I would buy a 2019. Who is to say Toyota doesn't screw up the Tundra like they did Tacoma.

Or hopefully they learn from their experience with the 2016 Tacoma.

    Rule of thumb:

NEVER by 1st generation of any model. Check out carcomplaints.com and you'll see spikes for each year a new generation was produced and usually people longing for the last before the change; making the 2019 a classic in the making!

Tundras suffer for poor mileage and smaller payload. it's gonna be tricky to address both and leap to top of class.

Salesman told me the other day they expect some hybrid sort of Ford EcoBoost scheme in next gen. Definitely do not want roll out year of that!

Get the 2019 or wait for the 2022!

You make valid points. However, I’m not sure Toyota needs to leap to the top. I read a recent report that Tundras only made up 4% of 1/2 ton truck sales in 2018. F-150 was numero uno and the gap between Ford and Tundra was huge. Toyota very well may have aspirations to be number one SOME DAY, but I think they’d be smart to just keep doing what they’re doing and focus on making reliable trucks. If they do this, the other three will continue to lose market share as they focus on bringing the latest and greatest without any proven longevity. I can appreciate people being brand loyal, but it gets to a certain point of frustration where you have to draw the line.

They don't have the capacity to build many more trucks than they build now. I would rather they get the "next gen" right, the first production year. Just give me a: #1 reliable truck, #2 give me "just" a little bit more payload and towing capacity, #3 Just some improvement on fuel mileage, #4 GIVE Me A V-8....don't tell me the future is a semi-hybrid truck...a truck is a truck is a truck...I don't need a grocery get-er "bling" truck. I need a truck...

The best thing Toyota can do with the Tundra is to have multiple engine options. That's my biggest complaint with Toyota trucks/suv's, the limited powertrain options. I hope they keep the V8 around and tweak it a bit to get better MPG somewhere in the 15/21 range. At the same time they could provide hybrid or turbo options for those that want them. They've slowly upgraded the Tundra overtime and I think the 2020 will be the best iteration of the 3rd gen Tundra. With TSS, LED headlights, and now adding an 8" infotainment with Apple and Android Auto I don't think they could make this Tundra any better. Enough tech to keep the masses happy and still keep its truck roots.
