If I get that, I would only cook one steak and cut it in 5 for the entire family. Make that $$ last.

That shit looks nasty. Way to much fat in it. I'd have to burn the hell out of it to melt away the fat.

A well marbled piece keeps it juicy and doesn’t dry it out

    Yup, Fat = Flavor

You can get great marbled steaks at Costco for a buck or two less than $2k. This is for hoidy toidies who want to tell people they eat Wagyu, not backyard BBQers. That said, the most expensive piece of meat I ever bought from was from Costco, $35-40 a piece Tomahawk steaks....best steak I ever had

But you really don't need $$$ meat or a $$$ BBQ to be make good grub.

No shipping to Canada, so I'm out

So I would never order that for myself for about 999 reasons however, that isn’t that bad of a price. SRF Gold Ribeye is just under $90 a pound.
I tried a lower grade of Wagyu from a local New Seasons and was not impressed.
The guys I work with want to go in on a black level brisket for around $300-350 and I won’t lie I’m a bit nervous. That’s an expensive ass piece of meat.

Have you had Wagyu before? Do you want to again? I think there are meats out there that give themselves the Wagyu label but aren’t the real deal from Japan. If you can get a meat that you’ve had and you know is good and worth the price, at least you know you will enjoy it.

Yeah I tried it once before...assuming you are correct. I too kinda wondered if it was really Wagyu. There is a lot of fraud with labeling in food.
Our local Traeger store is now a Snake River Farms retailer. They decided to bring in Black label only as it’s said to not have the gamey taste that lower grades have. I am waiting for a demo before I pull the trigger on some for just us or the guys at work to decide that’s what we want for that weeks bbq.

There is also a farm in Eastern Oregon that raises them. I think it’s called Two Sisters Ranch. I have been eyeing them as well for a while but haven’t bought anything yet.

I had Kobe numerous times while in Japan during my 4+ years there, but I'll still take an American corn fed black baldy ribeye. IE...black baldy = 1/2 Hereford and 1/2 Angus. White face, black body and commonly sold as pure Angus. Black baldy steaks are much better. IMHO

In Japan , Kobe steers are fed a high grain w/ alfalfa diet and sake and hand massaged. Saw it done first hand. Wagyu beef...meh....too much fat but tasty.
