Alpine has a much lower pre out voltage. The kenwood has 5volts.
For about 200 more you can get the dnr1007xr with nav. Didn’t think I would use it very much as I have use my phone for so long but I have been using it about everyday over the last 3 weeks.
Alpine is a good unit but the kenwood is just a step above.
I got a good deal at sonic electronics on the unit and all the adapters.

What he ^^^^^ said. Plus I believe the Kenwood has better integration with Apple Car Play and Android Auto as well. Kenwood also works directly with idatalink Maestro to make sure their head units are totally plug and play. One nice feature that Kenwood has is the physical volume knob.

I personally have a Sony XVA 9500ES but the Kenwood DNR 1007XR was on my list and they where both equally good and I would have been happy with either one of them. The Alpine not so much.

I’d have gone with the Kenwood, but back in the supply chain days I had to settle for Pioneer.

    I say Kenwood.

How do you like the Pioneer? I've heard they had a lot of lag and where kind of slow and buggy. Is that the case with yours?

I'm really happy with the Sony that I have. Everything is super fast with no lag at all. The sound quality is as good as it gets. The wireless Car Play works perfect and the whole unit especially the screen is top notch. I haven't had a single problem with it. It is really is a quality unit. I know the Kenwood is on par with the Sony and I'm sure I would be just as happy with the Kenwood. When I was looking I wasn't real impressed with the Alpines.

Love my 1057, got sick of the Garmin based nav demand that I buy new maps.

I don’t find it laggy. And 99% of the time CarPlay connects seamlessly. And the sound and sound adjustment is outstanding.

I hated not having a volume button for a while, but I’m over that. I’m happy with it, and I’m really happy that I got this huge screen to fit down into the dash.

It certainly looks nice. I like the way you have it tucked into the dash. Maybe it's the last generation of pioneers that I've heard people complaining about. The volume control on the Sony is a button on the top. It works just as good as a knob so it's not a big deal top me plus I use the steering wheel controls 90% of the time anyways.

“Much lower” is more like 4 compared to 5

Alpine outputs: HDMI output; 6-channel preamp outputs (4-volt front, rear, subwoofer).

This isnt scientific this is a personal choice but kenwood has always felt cheaper to me than Pioneer and Alpine. With that said I have never owned a Kenwood, maybe I would feel differently if I had.

Fwiw my alpine pushes my 4 12” kickers with no problem. My rear view mirror literally fell off last week I still gotta glue it back. Been pounding these for years. Prob my 3rd or 4th tundra system. Previously I had pioneer and sundown or JL set-ups.

nice!!! what amp are you using for the four 12s! i was only able to put in two 10s since the 2.5 gen back seat doesnt reclined and i think has slightly smaller space. i might be wrong and im hoping to be wrong because two 10s is not enough for me.

That sliding seat would have been awesome. I'm probably going the Sony route, but other that the Kenwood rebooting issue everyone seems to love theirs, so I guess I would vote Kenwood too.

I'll vote, but you've got to add an actual survey to the thread; you know that way it's official and you have to adhere to the results

    None so far.....

I'm leaning toward the Sony for mine - nice looking and great specs. The Kenwood looks nice as well though... - need to get some time and go see them locally. Your build looks so clean - really well done Sir!

Well thank you. I'm enjoying it. I'm about to do some thing similar to my 2016 Mustang GT.

I think the OP just jumped off a cliff. His two good choices became a half dozen pretty quick. I think he's reconsidering asking what oil to use.

Went with the Kenwood 1057xr, finally got it installed the other day. I wanted the volume knob and already have a JVC in my Tacoma so knew I'd like having the same UI. So far I love it. But I'm not sure what happened cause after I got everything finished up my power window switches no longer work except for the driver side switch, so I gotta figure out whats going on with that now.
