    Hello all,

I know this has been beaten to death. I want to get some LED front turn signals. Do the VLEDs V6 triton switchbacks work in this application: 2020 TRD Sport with OEM LED HL. or should I go with just the Amber turn signals? Does any additional splicing need to happen for the white DRL to work properly? Do I need any of the add ons like HDRL controller or resistors?

    Thank you in advance.

Is the turn signal a halogen bulb currently? If so it shouldn't be an issue. You have to add the resistor box to your cart. It is $30 but it does come with both of them for the $30. They have awesome customer service so you can always call them before ordering. I just took mine out to see if I can put them in the wife's 4Runner since I can't use them any more.

I believe so. They are so incredibly underwhelming they have to be halogen. I may just give them a call. I am astounded at how a $46k truck has such cheap lighting. lol I just realized this thread was posted incorrectly. I don't know how to change where it is located.

I hear ya there. I am a lighting nut....lol. I have LEDs everywhere. They are a great company. I have been using them for about 8 years or so. You might be able to get a picture of the bulb but I'm thinking its halogen as well. I don't know why they do that. The wife's 17 4Runner has led brake lights, but the reverse and rear turns are halogens. Oh yeah, Vleds is on a 20% off sale too. I have the 850 lumen reverse lights as well as the LPR system...that thing is 1800 lumens.

@Pinay can you please assist with relocating the thread for the OP if needed? Thank you!!

Yeah I’m just dipping my toes in here. It’s been awhile since I’ve been in the modding game but I did do two HID projector retrofits in my last Tacoma. Looking to retain a lot of the factory creature comforts on this new truck but light things up a bit. The OEM leds are awesome but the other bulbs are lackluster. I’ve been drooling over the Morimoto XB led HL but saw the high beams weren’t that great. Still may get them for the full blackout aesthetics. Do you have VLED brake lights as well? Main reason being I am looking at tinting the rears and don’t want to lose much output.

Yes I have the older V3 Tritons in my brake lights. I just put XB's in mine.

Consensus is I will call VLEDs tomorrow on my lunch. Sounds like 2020’s are uncharted territory, but front don’t need resistors on 2018+ and if adding rear signals then all 4 corners need resistors? Can someone confirm?

Put VLEDS on all 4 corners. Front are V6 Tritons and are available with prewired resistor if using turn signal on 2018 LED headlights. Hyper-flash without resistors, none with resistors. Non Tritons in rear and had to add a resistor to get rid of the Hyper-flash. Old adage buy once cry once. IMO worth the extra for the brightness and durability.

And which resistors for front and rear? I understand the pnp for front and then duotap rear. All 6ohm?

Yes Sir, although some have made it work with 3 ohm if doing all four corners, some have made it work without resistors and different brands. The rears I just used the Sylvanias from the local parts dealer and silicone the connections. Have said before that if I have electrical lighting gremlins then I know where to start. Good Luck.

I believe I just need to run resistors for the rears at this point. I went for the Amber Extreme V6 tritons, that said their website says they don’t require resistors in most applications. If they hyper flash I will just add the resistors. I did get the VLR6 resistors for the rear signals with Duotaps. I will report my findings within this thread and perhaps make a new thread lining it out for anyone with a 2020 with exactly what is needed. Thanks for the help Turtle.

I’m running the same setup on my 20, you won’t be disappointed. The V6 extreme will not need a resistor. I’m finicky about using wire taps on factory wiring, so I made a PnP resistor setup for the back using the VLED resistor and the corresponding 2 pin plugs from Toyota. Works great and no factory wiring was touched

Can you link the pnp resistor setup parts you used? I’m interested to do this instead of splicing. Even if we have to source our own parts we should have this option direct from VLEDs website!

I snipped off the end of the VLED resistor and spliced & heat shrunk it to my PnP adapter. I’m imagining this voids the warranty on the resistor, but for $15 I’m not worried

I have a 2019 TRD Sport with the factory LED healights. I replaced the halogen turn signal with the V6 Triton Switchbacks. I wired the amber turn signals as usual, but I didn't tap the white DRL as directed. I direct wired them to a switch on my SwitchPro, so I can turn them on/off whenever.

One issue I had with the V6 Tritons was the leads from the legs of the LED bulb. I had to bend one leg around to the other for it to connect properly. (I did this at the direction of customer service).

Update. I have received and installed VLEDs V6 Triton Amber Extremes for the front. No resistors. Works great. Extremely bright and very satisfied. For the rear I had ordered their 921 bulbs in red and resistors but returned them. I spoke with one of their reps and he told me they are working on 921 V6 PnP option right now. Could be available September or late August. Could not be happier with the V6 line. I have tinted taillights but when I get some time off work I will post some pictures. They are bright.
