The family and I are going to be PA for a week. I'm looking for suggestions on cool parks or places to go see? We are planning on seeing Hershey PA and Niagra falls. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's a big diverse state. Sounds like you will be in the central part of the state. Will you be driving east or west?

If you get far enough East... Valley Forge National Park is nice... If you make it into Philly, there's lots of colonial history... Liberty Bell, Independence Hall (take the tour) , the Art Museum ( Rocky jogged up the steps in the films)... good luck and safe travels!

my family and I spent a week in philly checking everything out. I would go there again. I live near Presque Isle, I would suggest stopping at Waldemeer which is near the entrance if you have young children as it is an amusement park with a lot of kiddie rides.

I forgot, Horse ride through Gettysburg was a lot of fun.

Can stop at Penn's cave as a break and get a ride through the cave on a boat.

Definitely go see gettysburg national military park. Plan on spending the whole day there. No way possible to see all the sites and learn about the significance of each memorial.

we visit Lancaster at least once every year. particularly pleasant in the fall. Rausch Creek Offroad Park is about 1.5hrs from there and is a few thousand acres of mountainous off road trails. most are more jeep oriented though.

Hershey Park of course is good for the kiddos. Very young kids might enjoy Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster.

Stoltzfus Meats in Intercourse near Kitchen Kettle Village has many different types of meat snack sticks. It is a part of every visit we make there.

Tröegs Brewing is right in Hershey if you're a fan of the grain. Less than 10 min from Hershey park /chocolate factory

MAJ Richard Winters (WWII 101st airborne 506th Inf Regiment, E (easy) company - band of brothers fame) was born near there. He's got a bridge named after him among other spots. If you're into that sorta thing.

Plenty planned thanks to all of you.
I completely agree with what everyone else has suggested. If you enjoy hiking / outdoors I definitely recommend checking out the PA Wilds / Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (http://pawilds.com/). It's a beautiful place. You could probably visit between Hershey and heading to Niagara if your heading that way or vice versa.

Hickory Run state park is on the way between Hershey and Niagra Falls. As well as Bushkill Falls and many other state parks. Lots of cool spots along the way.

If you go through Tannersville area, check out Barley Creek Brewery, Smugglers Cove or the Tannersville Inn for really good food and drinks.

Couple of pizza and chinese places around too depending on your price point.

Stay at the Hershey Lodge if you don't already have hotel reservations. A little pricier, but lots of stuff to do at the lodge itself. Plus shuttles to Hershey Park.

As has been said here, Gettysburg is awesome. Sunrise over the battlefield is a remarkable experience. If you are into history, Valley Forge is nice and so is Philly of course (if you want to deal with a big stinky city in the summer). Also cool, if you are heading east is Washington Crossing National Park - from there you can drive up the Delaware River through scenic Bucks County all the way up the border through Delaware Water Gap. Jim Thorpe is good for kayaking and rapids. Ricketts Glen is also a nice park.

Out near Hershey, definitely hit Tröegs Brewing. While pricey, it is nice to stay at Hotel Hershey or Hershey Lodge (little cheaper but more kid friendly).
Out west, Johnstown Flood museum and park is a little weird, but a part of history that should not be ignored.

And Cabela's in Hamburg since you are right around the corner. Huge walkthrough area or animals and an aquarium all built in.

pittsburgh is great! i will be there next weekend. if you end up in philly skip the lines at tony lukes, pat and genos and go straight to Johns Roast pork and get your philly steak or roast pork there. the others are just a tourist attraction and not worth writing home about and impossible to find parking.
