How bad of an idea is something like this? Will the paint fade? I would think the adhesive/chemicals alone qualify this as a poor decision.

I would think some sort of ghosting is inevitable if you removed the decal. It's covering sunlight from contacting the paint.

It won't fade the paint under it, it will fade the paint everywhere else

Function before sparkle.

Adhesive isn’t a concern but yes, there may be fading issues. I have similar decals on my Tundra but have no plans to take them off.
