The top plates are located to be in the place were you would step in and out of the truck.

In order to make a slider strong enough to hold up the riggers of off-roading, you have to drill holes in the bottom of the frame. Without those lower mounts, the sliders have nothing to keep them from rotating up under heavy force. Now if you want to just use them as a step and nothing crazy, you can skip the drilling. Unfortunately, Toyota didn’t give us any mounting locations under the frame to use.

As for your bed rack question, we plan to get to that.

Here are the 07-19 Crewmax sliders waiting to be test fit after being built on the new fixture:

Nice, full-length coverage. Can you get some pics of the underside so we can see how they mount and exactly where the main slide rail sits in relation to the rocker panels?

Subbing as this is my next project and I've been settling in on which slider to go with. (2018 Platinum)
I live over in Ontario Canada, so the drive to Michigan isn't bad and it will give me a reason to visit a friend also.

Do you install at the shop for purchases, or is the shop only for fitting and testing? Probably a dumb question but checking over all options.
    Thank you

We install our product for customers. That honestly the best way to get the back into Canada ;)

We’ll mess with making one. It’s on the short list.

Makes sense. Looks like you know what you are doing there! What type of bolts will be under there though? I cringe every time I see bolt heads under waiting to be sheered off. Is there space in our trucks to use carriage bolts and nuts inside the frame?

My thinking also - it's how my bed rack and RTT found its way back home lol.
Highly interested once you've priced those sliders out. Signed up for your news letter and I loved the install video for the Tacoma bumper!

Thanks for giving us hope for a diff skid Brian. I'll be right below Bruce on the list. Between SGU and BASTRDS, we could probably take the complete first run.

We don’t love to use button head bolts in a skid side location, after a bunch of hard hits, you won’t be able to get an Allen wrench in there to removed them in the future.

    Two issues with carriage bolts;
1 - you would have to mark, remove, drill and reinstall the slider. Where you can just bolt the slider on and drill with a regular bolt.

2 - finding carriage bolts rated higher than grade 2 is tough. In this application, it’s all sheer force on these bolts. So grade matters here.

We are using 1/2” hex head bolts. They won’t budge on impact. Besides, the bottom of the tundra frame is covered in rivets anyways

For those asking about a metal bumper that works with BSM. This seems to not be possible without mounting the sensor on the outside of the bumper. The metal of the bumper will trigger the sensor so the truck will think there is a vehicle in your blind spot at all times. This is why Toyota uses painted plastic rear bumpers on platinum and limited models instead of chrome front and rear.

The sensor mounts on the outside of the steel structure beneath. So no steel between the sensor and plastic outer cover.

Not where the BSM sensors are; they do not have steel in front of them; they sit in a open pocket with only the plastic cover in front of them.

I am sure if someone wants to, they can fab up a steel bumper with an opening for the sensor, and have a plastic insert to cover it. My understanding is though that it might need calibration to work right, and nobody wants to take on the liability - if it does not work right (or even if it does work and there is operator error) the fab shop can be blamed for the accident in today's crazy litigious world.

I have been patiently waiting for info on doublecab sliders. Will you have an option for a “kicker”? Also impressed with your primer. I check your website regularly to see if Tundra products have gone live. Keep up the hard work!
