I have a 2018 tundra crew cab limited with 3,000 miles and the wheel shakes between 60-70 when it’s cold but then goes away in 5 mins . I have factory alloy rims and these bfgoodrich tires (don’t like ) I have had to the dealer three times . Once to replace the headliner also bit for the same thing and they could not duplicate . I sent the manager for service about 8 videos clips of this and he still didn’t recommend anything . Oh did I mention that I had the two front tires replaced because they couldn’t balance them they were so bad ? When it had 200 miles on it ? It shook worse then . I am contemplatkmg calling Toyota and going to another dealership.

Has anyone experienced this ? I really think it’s these crappy tires . I got a trd pro for a rental with Michelin’s and No vibrations with the same mileage.

If the tires have large lugs on the sides it can vibrate, especially if they are underinflated.

I think its the truck, mine does it. It has had 3 different sets of wheels and tires on it, all had the same outcome . The steering seems very sensitive in mine. Two sets of factory wheels and tires and one set of Method with Nittos.

Could be a few things but if its cold out and it goes away after a few min of highway driving sounds like flat spotting like @Danman34 said. Not much you can do about it unfortunately except park your truck inside next to the fireplace

Flat spotting ? Seems a little ridiculous going from a Titan with good years and no flat spotting to a $50 plus thousand dollar truck and have to worry about flat spotting ? my tires ? I mentioned earlier that I had a Trd pro rental with Michelin’s and about 3,000 miles with no flat spotting at all ?the tires and the stick bfgoodrich tires .

that happens to me sometimes, but usually when it gets really cold outside or the truck has sat for a few days (sometimes just over night will do it). I get a slight vibration around 50-55 mph, but it goes away after a few minutes of driving.

My bfg tires flat spot easy in the winter. But then again. They are 35x12.5x18 tires and my truck is not a daily driver. But it also depends where and what its parked on . If in my driveway Gravel drive I dont seam to get them as easy but parking in garage when cold flat spots as soon as a couple hrs after parking.

In my case, it’s the truck not the tires. As I stated earlier in the post I have tried 3 different sets of wheels and tires. My factories with 800 miles on them, a good friends tires with a 19 1794( that does not shake at all) and my current Nittos that were checked and rechecked for balance and round. I might add the current wheels (Method) came off of my 16 Tundra and did not give any problem.
I have talked to Toyota about it but their is not much they can and will do since I have changed wheels and tires and suspension. And I do not blame them:cool:

Methods are not hubcentric. Do you have rings to make them the correct hub bore?

They did road force balance the first set first yes but they couldn’t even balance . Then replaced the front set . It’s just sad . I think I’m moving up to Michelin’s . The dealers service manager said Toyota said that no one is complaining of this and there is no problem is puzzling . I doubt this .

Well that’s a very potential problem there. Not only for vibration sake, but for your safety. Not having your wheel be hubcentric is the main reason you see wheels sheering the studs off. The weight of the truck needs to be on the hub, not the studs. The studs are not meant to be load bearing.

    @Danman34
Did you read my post? It does it with all wheels and tires, all 3 sets I have tried.
Method wheels ( or at least mine) can not use hub centric rings, that is why they are lug centric . No wheel with push through center caps can use centric rings.
I have only heard of wheels shearing lugs off when they become loose.
Fact is, the hub centric rings do not bear a load. The weight of the vehicle is actually supported by the friction between the wheel and its mounting surface on the axle. The friction is established and maintained once the lug hardware is properly installed and torqued to specs.

    I had this issue too.
For me it didn’t matter if it was cold or hot.
Anyways dealership balanced my tires and did an alignment.
    After that I was set.

Well, my flat spotting comment was in response to the OP. If you have vibration from multiple different sets of wheels and tires then there is most likely an issue with the truck. Something is bent, loose, etc.

well if that's the case your tires that the dealer put on are shit...most tires that come on the trucks form the dealer are shit. the duelers that came on my truck are shit...but at least rode fine. the big tire companies bid for the car manufactures business, they get the cheapest stuff they can that will last for a while. And if the service manager tells you no one else is complaining about the tires that shake because they cant be balanced ask him to pause and think about what he is saying...and then explain to him just because no one else compained about it does not mean its not a problem...

I have the same symptoms on my 2010 DC, as the vehicle warms up it goes away and smooth’s out.

My 2000 4RUNNER did the same thing; I tried changing fluid, adding fluid conditioner, inner and outer tie rods, bushings, alignment, tire balance and it never completely went away.

‘18 CM With BFG all terrains here, stock wheels. Bought brand new and got steering wheel shake after about 2-3,000 miles. Took back to dealer they said they had to re balance tires. Now 8,000 miles and the steering wheel shake is back. It’s annoying.
