That's a wild video. Still contemplating. I love black, and think it's by far the best color for any vehicle, but we'll see.

Sounds about the going rate. Also if you have a professional do it just know It doesn't protect the paint forever. I think 3M has a 3-5 year warranty on the film depending on vertical or horizontal placement.

I see. That's good to know. Thank you. instead of the 3500 then I may just plunk that into new wheels and save the rest lol. Black will be black, and it's a truck. In your opinion, how has the midnight black held up to abuse?

Seen this very same wrap on a Silverado. Had the Silverado logo on the door like the navy numbers on their ships. Looked amazing. It looks better in person and would be easier to take care of than black paint that’s for sure. Install wouldn’t be cheap. No experience and would leave it to somebody who does for a living. Big project from a DIY perspective. Patience would be key. Which I don’t have any. I’d shop around on that price. Might be right if they are very good.

I was just stating that he has experience with wrapping vehicles, that's his business. OP was asking if anyone had experience.

It will not protect your paint forever. Maybe a long time, but not forever. The heat and uv will eventually get to the vinyl and it will get brittle and crack.

I did the center bar on my pro grille the other day. Wasnt too bad and is holding up thru 3 days so I have high Hope's itll stick a while.
I have to say this wrapping thing is pretty tough, I tried doing the whole grill and failed hugely. This is as good as its gonna get. I might try to wrap my mirror caps one day

I charge between 3000 and 3500 depending on truck color and vinyl color. There are shops in Denver that will do it for 1500-2000 but I wouldn’t go anywhere near a shop like that with a 50k$ truck.

No more decals, but I wrap cars. It’s a lot more time intensive and a lot more profitable than decals. The logistics of taking orders, setting up design, cutting, weeding, packaging, shipping, and communication is why I’m done with them. At a shop rate of 85$/hr I don’t make any money for all the decals. But when I was starting out, it was filling a lot of time gaps between projects.

I disagree! No one is looking at your door jambs.

I've been thinking about this, too. It would be a good way to both protect the paint and change up the vehicle for a few years' duration. I have a white truck, and I like the idea of a snow camo or winter camo type pattern. What stopped me from looking further into it -- right now I'm parking my truck outside. To get the most out of a wrap, you want to be garaged or covered a lot of the time.

Just finished my wife’s shop truck just like that. Will be parked outside for 3 years and then we’ll see where it’s at and decide to rewrap or not. I’d rather not, the bumpers were a bitch.

3-5 years if you take care of it. My wrap was still pretty healthy after 3 years and that was parked outside daily at 6,500 ft in CO which is some of the most brutal sun.

Idk how you do it Matt @DecalsByDesign look at this clusterF@<× I did on my grill lol. Ended up trimming to just include the center bar blue and gave up on the rest. Vvivid 3m 1080 air release . I was heating, stretching, sticking, squeegeeing, heating....couldn't do it. I'm sure there are many learned techniques that I dont know about

3-4 years until I decide to either get the truck repainted a color less of a pain in the ass, or get a 2023 Tundra. I think black looks great, but white would've been a lot easier lol.
