Never thought I’d be in the market for an SUV but here I am. Wife likes the Highlanders and thinks they’re cheaper but I’m into the Sequoias due to the amount of space and the always cool factor to do a Tundra face lift.

Anyway, we’ve come across a 2014 Limited that has 69xxx miles on it. Dealer dropped the price down to 28,900. She’s gotta 5.7L, MGM exterior and graphite interior. What do y’all think?

Looks nice, price sounds about where I have seen them. I tried to get my wife to agree to one, but she won't budge off the small Highlander. :facepalm:It's just a Camry station wagon.....but still it's a Toyota.....so....

I like it. I also like Highlanders.

I found that preowned Lexus GX460's can be had for a decent price. Not as big as the Sequoia, just throwing it out there.

    Good luck!

Oh? Haven’t thought about a Lexus...always steered clear of ‘luxury’ vehicles due to the maintenance upkeep.

    Looks nice. Nice low miles.

I wouldn't think Maint. would be any different. Wife on her 2nd GX lease, no issues whatsoever.

Doesn’t cost more to maintain than a ‘regular’ ol Yota?

Generally speaking I consider Lexus/Toyota the same as far as reliability. Out of warranty I could see some of the high tech Lexus parts being costly, but I guess it all depends on the make/model and what technology is in it that could fail.

I have a thing for the GX470's, GX460's, and Land Cruisers.

Nothing has failed yet. There may be more "Luxury" items to fail down the road I guess. The GX is really getting outdated, Luxury wise, more simple than you would think. They do recommend 91 octane gas, i use 89 about every third tank, cannot tell a difference.

We looked at those a while back. Not sure if they've solved it, but used to be the backs of the rear seats were the same pleather they used for the seating surface. Thus if you fold them down to make a flat area, delicate fabric was exposed. It would have been much better had they put carpet on the backs.

May seem like a minor point, but if you have dogs it could be a deal breaker, as it was for us.

Our 2012 Sequoia has almost 200,000 miles on it. Not a single mechanical failure. We haven’t had to do anything but brakes, tires, etc.
Fantastic vehicle. I can’t recommend it enough.

I have tried a couple of times to get my wife to want a Sequoia. She loves driving the Tundra but will not part with her 2015 Pilot. Twice now we have test drove Sequoia Limiteds and she said no.

My wife liked both vehicles but she always wanted a GX470, so when I started looking for one for her it wasn't hard to convince her. Plus it meant no payments on a rig she could upgrade at her own pace.

I’m literally on the same boat as you. I am shopping around for a Sequoia for my wife and have been looking around. Something I have been keeping a close eye on and that I don’t particular like, is that some of these Sequoia’s were bought of Auction or were previous rentals. These sometimes are cheaper at dealerships. I just don’t particular like that. It may not bother someone else, but I had a bad experience purchasing a Toyota that was a previous rental. Will not do that again. They just beat the crap out of them even if they have low miles. Just food for thought.

Nope I completely agree. People drive rentals like they're stolen lol I don't wanna inherit that sort of potential mechanical mess!

Yeah, the good thing is that with a Carfax you can clearly find the entire history report. I have been trying to find a Sequoia private party, but it’s so hard to find one. At dealership it’s kind of a pain in the ass to go through the haggling. You know the dealership gave the person trade in Value or less for their Sequoia. I say less because some dealers say, your car is worth this much, but at auction I can find it for a little less and they offer you less. There is a Sequoia I saw online at a local dealership, but I won’t go in until the end of the month to see if I can get a better deal. Hopefully it will work out or else I’ll just keep on looking.

Yeah, I know. It’s just so hard to find these private party one owner. I’m just gonna have to bite the bullet and go into a dealership a buy one.
