USB audio doesn’t work

I have a 2018 Tundra SR5.

I might be beating a dead horse but my USB connection will not play audio from my IPhone XS Max. I have tried to change the cable. I do not want to use Bluetooth as the usb is normally better quality audio.
What gives? Update to headunit software?

 

when you plug in do you hit the audio button next to the screen and click on your iphone tile? My defaults to Bluetooth so I have to click that every time I want to use the usb

 

I push the usb button but the phone won’t play audio. Bluetooth works fine. I am thinking I have to unpair the phone and start fresh. It’s just frustrating that I can travel and get a rental car that’s a Toyota and everything works fine. Never been able to get the usb audio to work on my Truck since new.
