If I get some nicer vinyl or leatherette seat covers are there any that I install on my own? Or do they all require me taking the vehicle somewhere to have them do it? I'm hoping to keep it at or under $500

there are options from carking, carhartt, wet okole, that are custom fit and able to slip over your seats by you. There are also katzkins and such that you can get from @jhuey8947 and install them yourself or take to an installer. These REPLACE the seat fabric though, are more difficult to install, and cost about $800ish

I had the Carhartts on a Taco and while pricey they were great non-vinyl/leather options. Clazzio makes a decent slip on cover that I have run on 3 vehicles in the past...but quality control seems to be slipping on the last two sets I ordered. Nothing too serious and it didn't bother me too much but it was definitely obvious that it was an economical seat cover and nothing close to factory quality.

I am in the same boat as you - looking for some more durable upgrades for my current cloth seats. I was gonna go Carhartt, but at the price of them I will probably hold off and go for Katzkins and self install. Whether covers or a seat material replacement, it isn't rocket surgery.

    Check these guys out ( www.camotruckseats.com )
I bought a set from them for a F-150 years ago and they fit amazing! Very durable nylon materials and held up great. I am about to order a set for my 2021 Tundra TRD.
