Tried to install the Demello Dominator sliders I picked up from the_midwesterner over the weekend and it was a frustrating afternoon.

Got the driver side up to the frame and started to bolt it up and the back side of the slider is hitting the bracket from the gas tank causing it not to mount flush with the frame. Maybe because I have the 38 gallon tank? Cussed and pulled it back off.

Looked at the passenger side and there is a couple of plastic line holders on the inside of the frame protrude out which I think would affect the slider mounting flush to the frame. I did not think it would be smart to disconnect them and not have support for those lines.

I sent a quick note to Demello but thought I would see if anyone had the same issues and had a solution you used.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Anyway to grind off that little bit of the slider where it hits the bracket?

For the passenger side measure and identify the hole locations where your ‘plastic line holders’ are currently and mark the locations on the sliders. From this point you could drill and remount the new bolts through the slider with longer screws OR counter drill the locations on the slider so the existing bolts heads recess into the slider. Ideas. Hope it helps.

    Thanks for the replies everyone....

I heard back from Jason and he said the older version of those sliders had a bracket plate that didn't fit the frame on the new tundras with out modification. But they changed that about a year or two ago.
He said cutting/grinding the metal of that section to fit around the bracket is okay and will not affect the slider and has been done successfully in the past.
I am leaning toward your suggestion for the pass side Professional Hand Model as that was running through my mind as well.

Give it a try in a couple of weeks...

    Thanks again....

Well, finally took the time to try again to get these installed. Last weekend did the passenger side. Did not worry about the plastic holders and left them in place. Had to unclip the lines from one to be able to get to one nut to tighten it. After that side was all tight it pushed the plastic clips away from the frame but they are snug and do not look like they move. Just to be safe I did cut a small section of rubber hose to protect one of the lines from the nut and bolt end. Drove for a couple of days with just the one side on.

Then, during the week I took a day and got the driver side laid out and marked the metal that needed to be removed and got the cutting wheel and took off the section that was hitting the bracket from the larger gas tank. Then did the hand grinder/sander to clean up the area and shot it with a rattle can of Rust-Oleum .
Let it dry and got it installed on friday. Other then trying to get to the bolt by the gas tank everything went on fine.

One thing I did not do is drill the bottom holes on each side but being not going off road anytime soon for the added strength and have time to get to those but will need a lift to do it right.

It was a pain but finally getting them on I really like them.....

Man... good to see that you got them on. Sorry about not posting to help, but I didn’t see that I got tagged in this months ago. Also, didn’t we do this deal back in February..? You sir are a patient man!

As others have mentioned, let’s see some pics.

Yep, was last year when I met you and I picked these and the skid plate up on that cold winter day in Terre Haute. :)
As they say good things come to those that wait.

I had a similar problem with my apex sliders, had to cut out a section for that same support bolt/line.
