suggest you skip undercoat. it ends up causing problems over time. Will trap water, dirt and end up rusting the undercarriage from inside out. You would be much better off powerwashing under there a few times a year and if you live in the snow/rust areas something like fluidfilm application just before winter starts will keep everything protected.

    Not sure at this point.
I thought this was only for those who used Ziebart? There are those who preach FF undercarriage protection...

CRC and Amsoil MPHD seem to stick and stay on way better than FF in my experience. Not sure what Ziebart is.
Even after pressure washing a few times underneath this spring parts of the frame still bead off water.

I coated the entire undercarriage of my truck with Fluid Film. Bought the kit
that attaches to my air compressor. Lifted my Tundra onto my
Quickjacks and went to town for a couple hours covering everything. Pulled all the body plugs and misted the fluid inside.
It really works incredibly well! B99BEB3A-6000-4E63-835C-8D7D1A2A5A1B.jpg

BF6C5F96-FD99-4B23-B789-FEAA6D3A8BFB.jpg I highly recommend undercoating if you plan on keeping the truck for a long time. This picture is the undercarriage of my 2007 4Runner with 173k Ohio miles on it. It was done with WoolWax Black. It is a product similar to FluidFilm but IMO a little better. FF needs done yearly, WW every 2-3. Those that have tried both say WW is thicker and is formulated to keep the “wet sheep” odor to a minimum. Mine dissipated in a few days and wasn’t offensive even at the start. Both products are organic and lanolin based. Definitely stay away from rubberized coatings like Zeibart. My 2011 Rock Warrior had Zeibart applied every year by the first owner and there were places where it had trapped water and the frame look as bad or worse than untreated frames.

I use the Amsoil MPHD, I normally do it every 2 years didn’t do it this year because it still looks good.

Since one of the only rubs on the Toyota trucks is rust down the line.......I wanted to get it done to my Tundra. I opted for the Line X application. They use something called valugard (their spelling not mine). Kept it all day to let it set. I had to leave it over night due to logistics on my end. So far very happy with it and fingers crossed that it will help down range with this truck and any rust issues.

Ive done ziebarts the past 2 years. Bought my truck new. no rust issues here as of yet through Western NY salty winters. Vehicles in my family that have had the same treatment done have never had any rust issues.

I did fluid film on my Tacoma. Put it on in the fall, dont wash it til winter is over, then wash as much of it off as possible in the spring with pressure washer. Three salty winters later, no rust whatsoever.

Fluid film, rust check, known, corrosion free etc. Telling us where you lived would help. Those more paint like products I see here work well in the mid west, but in the north east a creeping fluid like I listed above are going to keep body panels from rotting out.

here’s my Tacoma frame after 5 winters in Nova Scotia, surrounded by the ocean and long salty winters. Truck has about 100k on it since this frame was put under it by Toyota. Never mind the mud splatter from work.
Rust check does get washed off my truck as I pressure wash the mud off the frame regularly from my line of work. My tundra doesn’t see this type of use, therefor the rust check stays on better all year.

I live in the northeast mountains . Salt is a biggie here. My truck is brand new and I'd like to keep that way as much as possible without voiding any warrantys. One of my first new cars was a 67 GTO. In 5 years it was a pile of rust. Everything since has been gotten rid of every three years. Next up was a 74 chevy truck that didn't even last three years before major rusting. BAD AREA here.

    Then I suggest rust check/fluid film/known/wool wax.
Here’s a couple pictures of my tundra after 2 years. I bought a professional spray kit and a 5 gallon pail of rust check.

i think it’s a Canadian company. There was a YouTube channel that tested a bunch of rust proofing sprays and rust check did terrible, but he was testing the “red can” which is inner panel rust inhibitor, which is runny and meant to creep in panel seams. This is why it washed off. But it works great for its intended purpose. I use the “green can” which is coat and protect and much thicker. This is what I use on all exposed undercarriage parts and it works great for me and many others up here.

I just started looking at corrosion free as well. Very good reviews. $65/gallon here and free shipping. I got my 5 gallon rust check on sale for $110 locally

I think it is used by the Canadian Military on their snowmobiles. I'm Canadian and served, so am required to mock them. :canada:

Amazon.ca sells it. I was planning on buying these:

I see people saying this all the time but when watching people restoring old cars, those with undercoating are not rusted out. I feel that undercoating is a valueable addon based on visual data that I have seen.

i think the term undercoat refers to the rubberized stuff that dries out. Rust proofing is what people refer to as fluid film etc. Most people here call fluid film/rust check/krown etc undercoating. Just a terminology thing I think

Free Shipping, buying direct, brand specific gun.... I'm in.

About $300cad for the gun, wands and a 4g jug. I hope to pick it up later this summer, so I can winterize it. I've been cared they much about my previous vehicles to do it, this one I do.

I've watched a few videos and read up on it a bit. By the sounds of it, it goes on pretty much anything under the truck (avoid routers and break pads obviously).

I’ll vouch for this stuff. Sprayed it on my ‘21 last November right after delivery, still creeping on frame and out of doors after multiple pressure washes directly on treated surfaces.

Will do once yearly as I’ve done for most of my vehicles and expect great results. I have another fogging style gun I do for the cab, and I’ll spray until I see the mist start to escape from door handles, seat belts, sunroof opening, etc.

Key advantage I’ve noticed compared to other products I’ve tried: no silhouette of the truck in my driveway after spraying.

My Rock Warrior was a 2011 and had Zeibart done yearly since new by the previous owner. I bought it in 2017 and the dealership pointed out the meticulous care the 1st owner took in babying his Tundra so I never looked underneath too closely. It appeared Zeibart uses Fluid Film or similar product inside the doors, in the engine bay and tailgate. They also did an exterior paint sealant every year. But the undercarriage was a rubberized coating of some kind. 2 of the shock tubes had what appeared to be a quarter inch of that stuff on them (yearly applications for 7 years) and when i poked one of them it just crumbled apart. I inspected the frame then and there were several softball size “pockets” that were bulging out from the frame. I used a screwdriver and poked at one of the bulges and although the frame had not rusted thru it was pretty flaky underneath the bubbled undercoating. I took it to Zeibart and talked to them about it. They said not to disturb it and asked if I wanted them to continue with the yearly “touch up” of the undercoating for $100. I decided not to.

After two N.E. winters, my undercarriage still looks like new. I plan on doing it again this fall, every two years seems like a good plan to me.
