    The under engine splash guard (I think that is what is called)on my 2002 access cab is starting to fray where it is held to the underside of the truck. I have been reinforcing these points with heavy duty duct type tape. Any ideas where you can get an OEM type replacement?

    I haven't tried my Toyota dealer as I have had bad experiences with their tech's trying to sell me services I don't want or need.

    Following. I have a 2003 SR5 and my engine splash shield is completely gone. Must have lost it somewhere over the last 260K miles. Hoping to see if another 1gen 2003 owner has one and can get me a pic. I want to order one...trying to fix it up and give it to my 15yo son here soon.

    Are you talking about the skid plate? If so, I'd try a junkyard, or buy a new and better one from skid row

    Take a look at Japanesetruckdismantling.net

    They rotate a lot of parts through their facility. Contact them and see if they have one or can get one. Also eBay is an excellent source for stuff like this.

    Could be it. I never really looked under there when it was attached. I assumed the OEM was plastic. I didn't even figure out it was gone until I tried to drive through a low-bridge crossing after fishing and my check engine light came on immediately afterward and the entire engine smelled like fireworks. I looked under there and realized all the under-engine parts were basically out in the open since I had lost the guard.

    Junk yard is probably the best bet due to cost of the Skid Row new plate. Like I mentioned, I bought my 1gen brand new in '03 and have put 260K on her. Been a great, great truck. I'm handing it down to my 15yo, first time driver son here soon and my guess is these next couple of years will be her twilight voyage.

    @school teacher: "yes bmf?"

    Bmf: what are you saying is frayed and you're taping? We have a metal skid plate, but I haven't seen anything plastic on the bottom.

    Heres a link for national auto part salvage. Do a search, and see where it gets you. I tried to search for it, but I'm not sure what a junkyard would call it? Apparently, skidplate is too easy.

    Anyways, here's 3 trucks that are at a wrecked yard in KY. I'm sure there are more somewhere.

    I did a search for just generic items because splash guard, and skid plate weren't options?

    Edit: You may want to check with @lsaami. He has a parts truck jobber going on. I'm not sure if his skid is gone yet. Shipping from Minnesota to Lousiville would probably be Ng.

    Tundra2:

    I had my mechanic locate a splash shield for my 2002 4.7 engine. To my surprise, he got one , new, direct from Toyota. It was called "Engine Cover - Underneath." The price was $92.52.

    269,000 miles and the Tundra runs like new!

    Thanks

    Very nice. That's worth, what, maybe 10 feather dusters? I'm not sure of the rate of exchange...

    Brutal. I’ve been taking Cryo Therapy in conjuction with Hot Epson Salt Baths (Lavender Scented). Fortunately, I have a good cut team in my corner.
