FRAC Installation Instructions: Refer to figures below...

IMPORTANT NOTE: The FRAC harness is pre-assembled and consists of a number of wires and components. DO NOT remove the plastic cable ties. They secure the harness wires.

The FRAC Harness Kit comes with the following:
    • One FRAC Wiring Harness
    • One Male Spade Terminal Connector
    • One VIM Switch pre-installed in switch plate*
    • One Cam Select Switch pre-installed in switch plate
    * Note: If you indicated a Non-Nav Entune Head unit, your harness will not include the VIM Switch or VIM Switch lines.

The switch lines, the front cam video input line, and the front cam power line are wrapped with a wire twist to secure them for shipping. The wire twist may be removed and discarded.

    1. Install Front Camera. Ensure the camera ground wire is firmly connected to desired ground location in engine compartment. Route video and power lines through the firewall and to the rear of the Entune Head Unit. I recommend routing through the passenger side firewall penetration boot. This allows you to remove the dash panel above the glove box to assist with routing the camera wiring to the Head Unit.

    2. Ensure vehicle ignition power is off (Key off or removed).

    3. Remove Head Unit from the dash and rest it (upside-down) on the dash. (Use a towel or soft cloth to protect dash). Referring to the figures below, locate J135 (28 Pin Connector) and J136 (24 Pin Connector) and disconnect them from the Head Unit.

    4. Plug the J135 and J136 connectors removed in step 3 into the matching FRAC Harness End (Male) Connectors.

    5. Plug the FRAC Head Unit Connectors into the Matching Head Unit Connectors.

    6. Connect the Front Camera Video line (with Male RCA) into the FRAC Front Cam Video Input (Female RCA). Once connected, wrap connection with tape or Shrink Tube to further secure the connection.

    7. Attach (Crimp or Solder) the provided spade connector (Male) to the Front Camera power wire that was routed from the engine bay. Plug the front Camera Power line into the FRAC Front Cam Power Connector (Female spade connector). Once connected, wrap connection with tape or Shrink Tube to further secure the connection.

    8. Route the Cam Select switch Lines and the VIM switch lines to the desired locations. Note: If you indicated a Non-Nav Entune Head unit, your harness will not include the VIM Switch or VIM Switch lines.

    9. Remove factory switch blank covers and route the switch wires from behind the panel, through the empty switch holes.

*** VERY IMPORTANT NEXT STEP ***
*** The RED Cam Select switch wire MUST BE CONNECTED TO THE CENTER TERMINAL OF THE CAM SELECT SWITCH ***

    10. Connect the Cam Select switch lines to the 3-position Cam Select Switch As follows:
    • White Wire to the Top Terminal (behind the - position)
    • Red Wire to CENTER terminal. (behind the 0 position)
    • Green Wire to the Bottom Terminal (behind the = position)
    11. If your Entune Head Unit has the factory Navigation function, connect both the VIM switch lines to the 2-position VIM Switch. VIM switch lines can be connected to either switch terminal. Skip this step if you indicated a Non-Nav Entune Head Unit, your harness will not include the VIM Switch or VIM Switch lines.

    12. Test the FRAC function. Turn the ignition to "on" to provide Head Unit Power. Use the Cam Select switch to select each of the cameras. Verify that the proper video is displayed for each switch position. Also verify that moving the gear selector to Reverse position activates the rear camera video regardless of Cam Select switch position.

    13. Turn off ignition and reinstall the Head Unit into the dash, carefully ensuring that the harnesses behind the Head Unit are not pinched or twisted.

    14. Re-install all dash panels and switch panels that were removed during the installation.

    15. Your FRAC harness is now successfully installed. Enjoy it!

If you have any questions about the installation or have suggestions that would make the instructions more clear, please let me know!

    FRAC Pic.jpg

NOTE: The radio is sitting upside-down on the dash in this picture. Also, the module at the top of this picture (bottom side of the Entune Head Unit) is the GPS module. If you don't have a factory GPS function, you will not have this module. Don't worry, it will not affect the FRAC functions.

It'd be great if someone could post pics of the trim removal a d locations of the pins/etc... A pic DIY would be very appreciated.

Anyone come across a cam that fits in the Toyota logo and has night vision?

The first Group Buy Harness orders have been shipped. Group Buy participants should have an e-mail with your tracking number and a printable copy of the installation instructions.

Now that round one is complete, I will be working on ways to reduce the assembly time of the harness. It took way more time than I anticipated. I basically sold them at cost. After my revisions, I will open the second round of orders to those on the list. I will keep the price as affordable as possible, based on how efficient I can make it.

Now I'm going to enjoy the rest of my 4th of July Weekend! Y'all be safe, and thank you once again for your FRAC interest and orders.

I would likely want one also. I just bought a 2008 DC, SR5. It has the factory radio in it which I want to replace with a backup camera system. Any thoughts on what I should put in? I may want NAV but it isn't absolutely necessary. Thanks for any advice that you can provide.

The VIM switch is a simple SPST (on/off) switch. The VIM "on" position is normal operation that should be used most of the time. The "off" position enables access to all GPS menu functions at all times. If you are moving and VIM is off, it also stops updating the vehicle position on the moving map. Once you enter the desired GPS info you can turn VIM on again and normal moving map functions will resume.

Bottom line, you can use a VIM switch like you indicated but keep in mind it will always be on in normal operations.

Haha. Not ready to take your money quite yet. I'm making a few design tweaks to improve manufacturing efficiency. But you are officially now on the wait list.
