@goldldr, Any shop that does automotive Stereo installations can easily install the FRAC Harness and a camera. It's a 60 - 90 minute job for them and most places charge between $100 - $150 for the installation.

If anyone is interested in a FRAC harness designed for the 1794, Platinum, and some Limited models (where you get the 2-pin and 3-pin rocker switches), who have factory navigation, PM me. I bought a head unit that has front and rear camera inputs and separate navigation, so I no longer need the FRAC harness. Will negotiate a fair price that will include shipping. I certainly enjoyed it while I had it, such an awesome mod!!

Picked it up from the dealer. They said they were getting a different code with the camera uninstalled, but it still directed them to the radio. They took it out, couldn’t find anything, and put it back in. They reset the codes and now it’s working fine. So I really don’t know what caused it.

Without a definite diagnosis for a problem, it's hard to say what the cause was. All I can tell you is that hundreds of FRAC harnesses have been installed and I have never heard of it causing a check engine light or any fault code. Resetting the codes will clear any faults, but if they are persistent, I believe the codes will come back after about 50 miles. If that's the case, I would drive the truck a bit and see if they re-occur. After 50 miles if nothing comes back, you could try reinstalling and see what happens.

I can research this a little more, if you can tell me what fault codes were present. Maybe they put them on the work ticket. Or you could call them and ask; if you feel like investigating further. I'll help however I can.

I just completed this install. Everything went smooth and FRAC works great. 2 minor things - 1) the rocker switch for the front/rear camera isn’t so smooth to operate. It almost feels like I’m breaking it every time I switch camera. Is there a better/smoother replacement switch that I can use? Not sure if any one else notice it. 2) the camera output to my screen looks so grainy. Is it the head unit or my camera? I bought this camera with good reviews on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/NATIKA-Backu...=1550440399&s=gateway&sprefix=naukita+&sr=8-3

question, I have started having issues with my camera today. When I went to use it the image was really grainy, I then checked the rear camera and it was fine. When I switched it forward again the front camera didn’t turn on and all I saw was a black screen. I drove to my destination and i tried it and it switches on but still grainy. Do you guys think this is an issue with the camera it’s self or the cameras wiring?

I think that's the right call. If your rear camera is good and the front camera is grainy or black, then the FRAC harness is switching, but the video is not solid from the front camera. Potential causes are: front camera RCA connection is loose, or the FRAC RCA input for the camera is damaged, or the camera power/ground are not solid. Keep us posted.

    Just placed my order :)

Couple quick questions (I did try searching before asking, but man this thread is a long one)

    1) I have a 2019 SR5 w/o factory nav. Will I receive the VIM switch with my FRAC? If so, can I not use it and instead bypass it so it's always "on"? Switch space for me is at a premium.

    2) Can I get some feedback from those who've added a DVR? I'm looking to add one myself, and am wondering how those mentioned here are holding up and working for folks. Is there a clear winner, like there is for the forward camera?

    Thanks!

Your harness won’t need the VIM function or switch so no need to look for extra switch space.

Do the switches for the NSV light bar (the one in the hood bulge) interfere with the FRAC switches (if you mount a la the BlueBottle approach)?

The NSV Switch Panel replaces the OEM Panel. It looks like there is room in the replacement panel "Shelf" to install the FRAC switches like BlueBottle did. You'd probably want to shift them right a little so the 3 red NSV flip covers don't interfere with FRAC Switch access.

What front camera would you guys with 3rd Gen Platinums that have them grill mounted recommend? I read thru most of the posts on here but there were a half dozen or so choices. Wanting to mount under the existing radar emblem.

So I’m having an issue with the camera I purchased, Noauka and image orientation. Since I have a flat facing aftermarket grille, I’m unable to mount the camera at an angle to correctly project the image on my display as it’s upside.

There’s not an option to reverse the image on this camera.

Does anyone know if there is a camera that I can mount flush (pictured) so it projects the image correctly without having to mount at angle?

Does anyone know if the FRAC harness will work with the Android headunit with the 12.1" screen?

The Android unit is plug and play and so is the FRAC harness...

A lot of my customers are using the Natika camera for the exact situation you are describing. It comes with a warranty and provides great installation flexibility for front, rear/mirror, and image inversion.

However you have options with your current camera as well. You could buy aluminum angle-stock (L-shape) at Lowes and attach it to your grill so that it provides a horizontal surface to vertically mount your existing camera. Depending on the grill spacing and the slot size, you may even be able to mount it internally and flush with the face of the grill. Something like the concept below:

Yes. The FRAC harness will work with any head unit that is plug and play with the Toyota HU harnesses.

I placed my order for the frac harness this morning.

What do you guys think of this on-off-on rocker switch? I’m a bit confused with the connectors in the back.

I watched the video and I believe the frac harness has 3 wires that connect to the rocker switch for the front/rear camera. This rocker switch has 5 connections in the back.

Does anyone know if this would work? If so, how would the wires connect to it? Below some pics.

    Here is my set-up
I decided to pass even trying to install the camera on my Pro grille (after the regrets I had for spending so much money for a piece of plastic :(
I went ahead and fabricated a simple bracket from a plain steel bar from Home Depot, painted it black, and proceeded to mount it on my Expedition One bumper. It's far from a neat install, but it isn't extremely conspicuous and does the job. I wired things with a slight modification so that I could use my S-Switch, according to @TundraTex 's recommendations. The install was a little involved, but the Frac harness works like a charm. I am very happy with this mod.

If you have a switch with 5 pins, then it is probably a SPST switch instead of a 7-pin DPDT, On-Off-On rocker switch. You need the 7-pin switch. There should be 3 pins for the cam switch function, 2 pins for Fwd/Aft position indicator lights, 1 dash illumination power pin, and 1 ground pin.

Check out post #757 in this thread.
